They do force an installation but I think this is to prevent bots registering. You can use it without their client once you have registered.

i have used a better and not found anything that beats the price yet , very cheap to any country.

nonoh.net
Their website is not the clearest. The menus run along the bottom of the page.

It's states that you get various countries free for 120 days - and can continue beyond the 120 day limit. Then:
Quote:
You can get more Freedays by topping up your account with credit.
But if you make only free calls why do you credit? Also:

Quote:
Registered users get max 200 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days and per unique IP address. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s). If limit is exceeded the normal rates apply. During your Freedays you can call all destinations listed as "Free" for free. When you have run out of Freedays, the normal rates apply. You can get new Freedays by buying credit.
I'd be hard pushed to phone 200 minutes a week from home - but they still want you to 'top up you account'...

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

On their rates page they say:

"You will be charged for calls to both sides"

Does that apply also when making a SIP call?

I registered with Nonoh and in the confriming email it says:

Quote:
you can now make free calls to several countries. these calls are limited to 1 minute per call.
I didn't see that on their site...

Does this change when you add credit? Otherwise the service is a bit pointless.....

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

Is anyone succesfully using a Fritzbox with Swisscom/Bluewin ADSL? I'm trying to use a Fritzbox 7170 to consolidate the myriad bits of hardware I have, and to provide VOIP.

The Fritzbox never connects to the DSL properly, displaying "Die Prüfung der Internetverbindung ist fehlgeschlagen. Der Fehlergrund konnte nicht ermittelt werden.", which I translate as "It doesn't work, and I'm not going to tell you why".

It's definitely not usename/password issues, as I've verified that they work in my existing ADSL router.

This is Fritzbox number 2, the first one also displayed the same symptoms (purchased from MediaMarkt in Sihl City, FWIW). I guess it's possible that I've received two dodgy units in a row, but that seems a bit unlikely.

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

I have been with Switzernet for the last few weeks. They were very prompt in getting me signed up, but the customer service is terrible.

I realized that they have been charging my calls to US and UK as well, which are supposed to be free and since I noticed this, I have been trying to contact them, by email and through the hotline number, but have been unable to elicit even an acknowledgment from them. The quality of the calls is ok, but I would definitely not recommend them because of their bad customer service.

The latest status is that they have blocked my account because I have exceeded their 50 CHF limit, but 90% of these charges are on the calls made to US numbers.

Really frustrating

Yes, this is just as a tempter. But unless you place some credit with them you are limited to 1 minute and if you make only free calls for 120 days, your credit is removed. There are a number of other VioP sites running this "system" too...

On the first page of this thread Mr Switzernet made a couple of posts - you may be able to email him from his profile...

Andy's experience is basically the same as mine. I'm sure that PMing Switzernet will get a response because it's quite visible here but the service needs to not only be cheap but reliable, at the very least I'd expect them to reply to my 6 emails chasing the same issue, not responding is just plain rude. A provider who can't supply basic support is no good to me even if only 9chf/month commitment.

Hmm, I must be the lucky one - my last Switzernet bill was 9 francs and 2 cents. And I made a few hours' worth of calls...!

What's the contact address you're using? And have you actually tried phoning them?

I tried their support address listed as support on their website, they replied then I wrote back on the same address.

Phone them? What is their number? I just want to send a mail (had to send them logs etc) and get a response at some point

Either way i messaged them through EF to let them know I had criticised the service in case they want to explain that I was unlucky and this is not normal.....

Thanks, AbFab. I did send a PM to Mr. Switzernet, about 4 days back, am yet to receive a response.

I have tried calling the 0900 number listed on the www.switzernet.com website, as well as sending mails to billing........

I agree with Peachy, not even acknowledging the email is just bad customer service, not worth recommending, however attractive the offer might be......

Switzernet VOIP problems with service

Has anyone else experienced problems with Switzernet recently? I have been using Switzernet for the last 2 months and have been happy with the service, despite the few times when loss of service occurs and it is necessary to redial. However, a couple of weeks ago I was told I needed to reconfigure my phone, which I have done following the instructions provided (with some help!) and now I can't call anyone. I have emailed Switzernet every day for the last 2 weeks asking for help and advice and not heard a thing and am getting very frustrated now . Has anyone else had a similar problem?/Offer any advice. Thanks!

Re: Switzernet VOIP problems with service

in theory you just had to change your SIP servers and proxy. What device are you using and do you get a dial tone?

Should be easy to fix; I changed my settings as per their email and my device re-registered on their network fairly quickly.

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

Hi lob,
so the device is a Siemens Gigaset C45O IP. I am a bit of a technophobe, but managed to put the IP address of the phone in and change the server as per the email, but it still says that the SIP isn't recognised and I am unable to connect. Not sure what else to try as have done what they suggested...

Have you gone to 192.168.1.10 and set things through the web interface?

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

do you want to PM me a screenshot of the settings? I have the C475IP and it is fine.

Domain, proxy, registrar and outbound proxy are all set to what they sent me as new values now.

Re: [VoIP] Swiss VoIP services: Experience

The C450IP is just a bit different. Are you certain that your username/password are correct? Do you have "enable G729 for Annex B" set correctly (I think it should be off unless you've got ISDN).

Unlike Lob, I use a STUN server, but I use SIPPhone, so it's a different provider.

Finally, do you have your router configured to allow your SIP ports to pass through to the base station?
