internet provider suggestion?

We are currently paying for a landline and internet connection through Swisscom.

The only service we need is the internet (only telemarketers have our phone number and we don't own a tv). Is it possible to keep our Swisscom contract and get rid of the landline subscription?

Or should we cancel our contract with Swisscom and find another company entirely? At the moment, we are paying 27chf (phone)+49chf (internet+tv).

Re: internet provider suggestion?

I am unsure if Naked DSL is available in your area ( DSL without a landline subscription ). It used to be offered by Bluewin Swisscom, Green.ch plus a few more providers.

If your home has a Cable socket, you might try with Cablecom or their Lausanne equivalent cable provider.

Just get their internet service ( plus TV if you are keen on this ), and perhaps VOIP from Switzernet.com ( based in Geneva ) which requires only a decent broadband connection. I have had Switzernet for years and no telemarketing nor prank calls at all.

Re: internet provider suggestion?

I just moved into a new place in canton Vaud, and am also looking for an internet-only option.

Thanks for the links, jrspet (though I can't find the one with Swisscom that you mention). green.ch seems to fit the bill. WHat other providers do you know of?

A related question: the previous tenant's Swisscom contract (which I'm currently using) runs out at the end of the month, so will we need to pay for installation fees (which seem to run 350.- )?

Although personally I think Cable with Cablecom if an available option is a far better value choice. Add VOIP if telephone is needed.

I don't think you need to pay the installation fee if you don't really need the installation itself. When I moved into my place and signed with Swisscom, in my first bill, in addition to the usual phone/Internet charges, I only got the below line.

Activation fee EconomyLINE / relocation CHF 43.00

I used my own equipment though.
