Clearly neither company has a clue what the RRP will be
They may be getting their inspiration from Orange who quote CHF 799.-- retail and delivery date is changing each half-hour from end of March to April 4th to (now) April 11th...

Swisscom price their SIM-FREE handsets so crazily as they are just contract-pushers, they have little to no interest in selling unlocked handsets at reasonable prices. Barstewards.

However, Media Markt will price-match the cheapest price in-stock online, and I buy all my handsets from them now.

I bought a Galaxy S4 from Mediamarkt a year ago and they were by far the cheapest - they didn't do pre-orders last year but had plenty in stock on launch-day.

Swisscom always has insane pricing policies - unfortunately, they're using their might to get better deals out of Samsung. Just like last time, they seem to be the only source for the 32gb version for now.

Interdiscount have come out with CHF 749.. with their periodic 10% off everything discount days, this could be a very nice little deal.

So - if we were to get cheap hosting, setup a demo e-shop with some cool prices, run it for SEO and toppreise indexing purposes for a few months, each time there is a new cool phone in town, we can upload a listing for S5 Sim-Unlocked @CHF299.00 ONLY TODAY, MY FRIEND (with proper hard ahZent) and then rush to the nearest MediaMarkt with tablet in hand... "shame these phone numbers never ring, eh"

Who's on board with the e-store idea?

It's still a crazy price designed to gouge early adopters, and will plummet a few weeks after launch when stock stabilises.

The only way to fix a Samsung phone is with a root and an AOSP ROM.
Agreed. If my S3 died tomorrow, I'd replace it with another S3 and CM11.

There's been a ton of new phone announcements in the last few days. I don't think any of them can fully replace the S3 (removable battery, SD card slot, minimum 720-line display, approx 350Sfr). Several have three of the four attributes but I haven't seen any with all four yet.

Seems like Samsung hasn't promised too much when it comes to the camera - the AF is very fast and the pictures are sharp and without a color-cast. Of course, real tests under lab conditions haven't been conducted yet.

The processor they're using is the latest-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 801

If it is true that the Samsung S5 will be cheaper then S4, then I might actually get one

I guess the only question is how much cheaper

If this is to be trusted in any way, Xperia Z2 will be available in 10 days or so... Why am I so skeptical? Anyone have better info on availability of the Z2?

Sony said it'd be out in March, so I'm guessing it's possible

There might be some hope still for Samsung, news out of another variant of S5 with an all-metallic body to launch in May under the Galaxy F name. Source

Forget Nexus. Forget S5 and any other self-proclaimed flagship device. Pick your next to last you a year, as ARA is fast tracked by Google: http://techcrunch.com/2014/02/26/goo...er-conference/

If all holds true and we do see modular Android phones next year, there will be no more guessing: I can at all times be at the bleeding edge of each thing, camera, battery, screen, radio, you name it. Man, this is a dream come true. Nobody will care what is the next flagship from X or Y, you just order the modules, snap on and use. My oh my...

Websites for non-contract dual sim phones

Hello everyone,

I would like to buy a dual SIM smartphone, but the stores I've been to barely have anything and what they have is pretty expensive. Does anyone know of any websites where I could buy a phone like this? I don't want a contract attached to it, just the phone.

I did a google search and it came out with several models, but not sure where to buy them from.

Re: Websites for non-contract dual sim phones

I bought a new backup phone today and I have to say I am very impressed...

TE Blade Q Mini http://www.gsmarena.com/zte_blade_q_mini-5824.php

Bought it from Orange for 99chf on Pre-pay...

Good points so far:
  • MUCH faster than the Huawei Y300... the 1GB RAM helps a lot.
  • Has a 4" IPS screen... amazing quality on a phone this price
  • Camera is surprisingly good, in good light images are very clean and sharp and video at 720p is actually pretty damn excellent
  • Sound and speakers are very clear

All in all pretty chuffed... and I recommend it for any kid or spouse that needs a new smartphone!!

Can you please tell me what the right soft button does?
Does it show the running apps (standard Android) or does it show the options like many modified versions?
