Re: Satellite Installer Recommendations

Hi

Any recommendations for someone in the Geneva area to help with Satellite installation. The dish is already mounted but LNB needs to be changed and cable needs to be run down 2 floors ?

Re: Satellite Installer Recommendations

Hi,

I can recommend Sound and Vision AG from Rueschlikon. http://www.1soundvisionag.ch. They speak english and they installed my 88cm dish on a stand, cables and Quad LMB over 4 years ago and everything is still working fine.

We used Nathan from http://www.priorityhomeservices.com/.

He's English, did a good job and can do all sorts of other jobs like fit lights, hang pictures etc if you have neither the time nor the inclination. They do charge for travel though, but was quite up front about it.

Re drilling holes: its up to your landlord, ours was fine about it but most aren't. The easiest solution if you can't drill is a free-standing thing called a balcony stand - self explanatory. Priority Home Services can supply one if you need it.

Re: Satellite Installer Recommendations

Fust should be able to do it for you. We got our new dish and the bits from them when we moved to our new house. Do have to make sure they understand it's for Sky though, as they may sell you the wrong bits. Once we got that straight though, it was fine. Placed the order and man came out and installed new dish and cabling and we were up and running in just over an hour.

Re: Satellite Installer Recommendations

Question I'm moving to wollerau, there is a satellite already installed and the previous renters are asking me to bypuy their box off them for 350chf. What I don't understand is that they say I don't need to take a subscription with any other ice,mie sky, meta, but that I can get through this box many channels such as bbc, CNN etc.

Does anybody else have a box without a subscription? I m confused.
Thanks for your help

You can watch all the free-to-air channels without subscription. This is what the UK's Freesat box does. The list of free channels includes all the BBCs and ITVs. (Google will help.)

But I would see if this system you are thinking of paying for receives Astra 28.2° - the UK's Astra before you part with any money. Just ask for a demo...

Yes, many people have sat receivers with no subscription. As long as your dish is pointing to Astra 28.2 you'll get al lthe UK channels.

It must be an all singing, all dancing receiver if they want 350 for it(or maybe it's the Wollerau rich-persons premium)

Note that it is possible to buy a new Humax HD receiver which is also a PVR for freesat from the UK for arround 220GBP.
