Complaints for *Telephone Number Abuse

Thought I had read it somewhere here... but could not find it while searching.

The number of advertising, financial planners, overstocked wine and cheap printer cartridge telephone calls that come in on my fix net line is simply overwhelming and uses way too much time (time I'd rather be on EF ).

Google sends me to discussions from people that are also feeling the abuse... but nobody or nowhere offers a solution. No help there.

My fix net line is registered and displayed with a star next to the number. We all know what this means - but some don't care and call anyway, unfortunately.

Where can I report the number, company, caller's name with the date and time they called? Is there a BAKOM or similar office that accepts these abusive reports?

Or, of course, if someone has a link to an existing thread with the details - it would be much appreciated!

And, yes... I have seen most of the pranks played on the callers. Luckily nobody has called to report the viruses on my Windows machine

I personally really don't see the point in a fixed line... mobile phone + Skype has completely made them redundant for me, and I used to use mine a lot.

You will never stop getting spam calls, so either cut the problem at the source by getting rid of your fixed line, or you will spend as much time reporting them as you do answering them.

Some broadband/TV packages rely on having a fixed line in place. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother either.

Although our French one also includes free calls, anywhere, anytime (well, except furn mobiles and more than 60 mins to frog ones.)

Wouldn't work for me and my family.

Without a contract, mobile calls abroad are expensive and I've got friends and relatives who despite having Skype set up, never use it.

There are loads of other reasons why a fixed line is useful.

If I was single then a might do what you do but with a family, it's different.

It is not a matter of fixed line or not - The current number has been attached with my business for a number of years now - it would be shooting myself in the foot if I quite using this number.

Thanks, I will look into these.
