Chain of problems with Yallo: PIN, PUK & helpline

Hi,

I had a Yallo prepaid number I hadn't used for months and when I turned it on today, it refused the PIN number. When it got blocked, I thought 'No biggie, I'll just reset it with the PUK.' Well, it turns out it doesn't recognise the PUK either. I've double-checked the number on the Yallo website, so I'm 100% sure I have the correct number. I've already used six attempts of the ten a SIM card gives before locking up for good.

So I called the (paying) helpline and this is where it gets really infuriating: every time I've called, I've been put on hold for upwards of twenty minutes, with no information of estimated wait time, only to be disconnected without explanation.

At this stage, I think I've already paid more waiting than the credit on that number.

Finally I sent them a message through their website.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any tips or advice?

TIA.

Unfortunately that's why some of the cheaper companies aren't always the best option ....... or the cheapest.

Re: Chain of problems with Yallo: PIN, PUK & helpline

I'm not sure I understand why/how PIN/PUK could change if the SIM isn't used but I always remove default PINs. In my case the card wasn't used for a year and was deactivated. It didn't ask for any PIN/PUK, it was just showing "Inactive SIM" on the phone. In my account it was showing the same message so I submitted an online request to activate it again (http://www1.yallo.ch/is-bin/INTERSHO...UAAAEwQxIbbWn3).

Next day I got an email confirming the SIM was reactivated and asking for one chargeable call to keep it active.

It's working well since.

And yes, I had nearly 100% the same experience and followed the same procedure with a Sunrise Prepaid.

Re: Chain of problems with Yallo: PIN, PUK & helpline

Hi, I finally sorted it out. The explanation was simple - two different SIM cards from the same company had got mixed up. I found out by looking at the serial numbers.

Thanks for the advice.
