Cancellation of Cablecom TV service???

Hi,

I took cablecom TV service just few weeks back with some offers like half price for 6 months etc., Now I don't see much use of the channels as I don't find many in english or I find channels through internet are more attractive. Can I opt for canceling the service now? What are the implications. I want to try understanding here first before calling cablecom service line as it takes ages to reach someone who speaks english.

Regards,
Sasi

Re: Cancellation of Cablecom TV service???

The contract I signed said that there is a minimum contract time of one year. After that there is a three month notice period for certain dates in the year. It could be that it has changed since I got mine, but I sort of doubt that they lowered the minimum contract time.

At the time I asked and if you leave the country or move to a new place that does not support digital tv then you can get out of it, but with my experience so far with cablecom I would think that it might not be easy to do so (and would have to offer proof).

unless you are leaving CH, I think you are obliged to pay for a year.

*cough* if your employer says you're leaving, then you're leaving *cough*

I am sure if you then move to a place where cablecom is not possible, then maybe (MAYBE) you will also have to proof it. Its not easy getting out of these contracts before a year. I live in a remote little village, and we have cablecom, just not the part where you can order movies to watch online etc...so, mostly cablecom is running (almost) everywhere, and hard to get out of the contracts before the year is over. I guess the best way is to always see/investigate all the options before you get something...

Re: Cancellation of Cablecom TV service???

ok just called them. Apparently to cancel/change tv, internet etc etc you need to call two times (or they kindly transfer the call..) so for cancelling internet just a simple phone call will do... you give the old address, new address your birth date and that's it...

but the digital tv I need to send a paper which confirms that I'm moving to another "gemeinde" and I need to send copy of the contract from my new flat?!...

I'll call again for cancelling the Digital TV...maybe I'm lucky and speak with another person who makes my life easier.

Re: Cancellation of Cablecom TV service???

Cablecom are not at all well organized.

I moved to a Gemeinde several months ago that was not serviced by Cablecom. First, it took them 2 weeks after my initial call to determine availability - the website gave me one indication and their internal system gave them another.

Then, I had to make 3 different calls - one for analog TV, one for digital TV and one for hi-speed internet - at least one month in advance. Luckily, I did not have to provide proof of my change of address - just the new address itself, even though I cancelled digital TV within the first 12 months of the contract.

Finally, just the other week I received a bill by mistake for my old analog service. It's sorted now, but it hasn't been fun...

Good luck!

They are making big changes in their internal systems this year. By the end of this year the systems that the customer service guys use will be hugely better. It's already running for one part of the country and working really well.

FK, out of interest do you have any inside info on Cablecom, or do you work for them perhaps? You always seem to have a good insight on what they're up to.

Then... can you or somebody else tell me if you CAN terminate the contract before the 12 months if you move totally out of the country or it's all a maybe? Any expirience?

I would like to get the internet and digital TV package but I'm afraid I will not stay in Switzerland for another year....

What does the contract say in its termination clause?

Oh look - it's on their website - clause 7 of the AGBs describes your situation:

Der Wegzug des Kunden aus einer Liegenschaft, welche die Voraussetzungen für die Lieferung der Dienstleistungen grundsätzlich erfüllt («Erschlossene Liegenschaft»), in eine Liegenschaft ausserhalb des Versorgungsgebiets der cablecom, beendet das Vertragsverhältnis auf das Datum des Wegzugs aus der erschlossenen Liegenschaft, vorausgesetzt der Kunde informiert cablecom mindestens drei Monate vor dem Wegzug.

Translates to:
If you move to another house which cannot be served by the cablecom service, the contract ends effective from your moving date, provided that you inform Cablecom 3 months before your move.

Thanks! Well I suppose they consider another country as a not cablecom-served address...Thanks indeed
