Re: Using a DVB-C box for cable channels

Sky uses NDS which is allegedly still secure.
Cablecom uses Nagravision 2 and the keys can be quickly and easily extracted and emulated.
Many other encryption methods are hacked - the cost of replacing all the cards for all subscribers often far outweighs the "costs" of free viewing.

Sky is still secure at this time mainly because they don't use off-the-shelf boxes - rather their own closed platform for hardware.....

Re: Using a DVB-C box for cable channels

OK. I need info and wonder if you lot are able to help. Have just bought an appartment in Zug, we were told by a Sky provider that we could get sky - I told him where the appartment was, but it now turns out that we can't, we are 100% in the wrong place.
Bluewin isn't available in our block - swisscom 'think' it is because it is a new block, and are unable to tell me when it will be available.
Since I have two young kids I want to have some english channels, although they seem to manage ok with the swiss at the moment. I am totally illiterate about these things, is a DVB box an option? if not what is? Do any of these record like sky +?
Many thanks in advance.

Cablecom Digital.
If they provide; I assume you don't have south-facing dish chances?
