Didn't register online yet. Will do. As a backup I just got a CH Lyca SIM as well.

I searched in lyca mobile website but I can't find roaming data add on anymore. There was 1 Gb roaming data pack for ~12 chf which I bought in April. Did they remove that packet?

I can only speak for roaming around Europe, FR, UK, DE, IT..

There's no need to buy anything extra.. When i cross the border i get an SMS saying that the "FEEL LIKE HOME" service is now active.. I get a local number and 3g data .. I just use it like I'm in CH although obviously at slower speed.

I buy 10gb data per month, no other add ons. I've never actually sat and worked out exactly how this 3g roaming data works, if it comes out of my 10gb or is roaming data etc.. It just works..

With the new roaming rules arriving there should be a phase out on this

Looking at my phone just now, I actually have data roaming switched off..
So I assume this means that the 3g data i use when abroad is coming from the locally allocated number.

Just back from a week camping in FR and my 3g connection was solid, the kids watched some youtube, I uploaded photos to social media..etc

Looking at my balance it appears to have cost me nothing. I have no idea how it can be so cheap compared to the likes of swisscom but i'm not complaining.

Re: lyca mobile?

so now I have a Spanish SIM and a Swiss one.

If I understand correctly it's indifferent if I buy a "Spanish Data" bundle on the ES one or a Swiss data bundle on the CH one, both of them are going to work in, let's say, France? :msnshock:

Re: lyca mobile?

I was in Portugal last week with my Swiss SIM. Couldn't get service despite receiving the Like At Home SMS. I called the helpline and they explained I needed credit on my phone for data to work when roaming. So the Like at Home is restricted to SMS and calls.

Let's see what they do once the EU law comes into effect, especially in countries where they have a local presence.

Just came from Czech republic and data didn't work. One of sim had Hello Swiss S(old EU 19) plan and another had data pack. :(

However data worked in Austria.

Like at home never included data... Only calls and SMS

so how do you get roaming data on lyca then if the option is not there anymore?

BTW data *is* included

https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-...ions-roam-home
4. Are there any volume limits to calling, sending SMS and using mobile data at doemestic price while I travel?
If at home you have unlimited calls and SMS, you will get unlimited calls and SMS when roaming in the EU.

If at home you have unlimited mobile data or very cheap mobile data, your operator may apply a safeguard (fair use) limit on data use while roaming. If this is the case, the operator will have to inform you in advance about such a limit and have to alert you in case you reach it. That safeguard limit will be high enough to cover most, if not all, of your roaming needs. Beyond this threshold, you can continue data roaming, subject to a small charge (maximum 7.70/GB + VAT; this will decline gradually to reach 2.50/GB as of 2022).

Re: lyca mobile?

for EU countries yes. Swiss operators are not obliged to implement lower charges for dats services as the corresponding Bilateral doesnt exist, it does for voice/SMS.

it may have worked, were you charged for it against your credit balance?

for my case I got a Spanish Lyca SIM I pickup up for 5 EUR while on vacation.

Tried getting answers today, waited 20 minutes on the hotline, to no luck :msnmad::msnmad: then I sent an email that wasn't even acknowledged by an automatic system... well, there's the drawback of a cheap service.

I'll keep the forum updated once they answer me anything.

I've got no clue how they bill or charge this ..

I just spent the long weekend in France, my data roaming is switched off, I got the FEEL LIKE HOME message.
I had good 3g signal and just continued to use the phone as normal..

Unfortunately i don't know what my balance was on Friday but i still have balance today :)

See below a screen shot of my usage, it makes no sense to me, the times or durations mentioned or balance used..
First row seems to say that a 15sec DATA call cost 1chf but didn't come from any balance.
Fourth row seems to say that a 13 hour DATA call also cost 1chf and didn't come from any balance.

This is Lyca but i like it :)

was across the border into france today. got the roam like home for text/voice
and my data just worked.. 3g roaming on Bougues did not see any $$$

Lycamobile very silent on this issue..

Re: lyca mobile?

Was in Germany for 2 days. Could not but a 1gb eu
Data add on. And lycamobile burned through
80f in data before telling me no funds left.
So there is your answer. The eu roaming is now
Voice and text only. There is NO free data roaming in the
Ur and there is no ur data packages to purchase
For roaming in the eu.

Reducing lycamoible to a Swiss only good value.
Pathetic of them to cut the 1gb roaming package.

Avoid using lycamoible data outside Swiss
Unless u want to kiss your francs goodbye.

Don't be sad. The Francs are not gone, they're just with someone else now ;)

Re: lyca mobile?

Having looked at lycamobile.co.uk they no longer offer data roaming in bundles or from uk local bundles.. lycamobile.ch has STOPPED OFFERING DATA ROAMING PERIOD.. only voice/txt roaming bundles.. no more 12f/GB option.. just payg costs stupid high.. for roaming data.

So lycamobile is screwing over its customers if we need roaming data,
no bundles, no roaming options, just a stupid high cost per MB.. which
would suck through 100f in a day easy..

Oh well.. any other SWISS Provider offer cheap roaming data?
