I've been a huge fan of Lyca until now..as i've posted many times!
Something has changed, previously it cost me next to nothing to use data in FR, so little i hardly noticed my balance change after a few days..
This last trip i was in FR for 10 days and it cost over 80chf .. With data roaming switched off.. I'm heading now for another couple of days, wonder what happens if i switch data roaming on?!
Anyways time to re-evaluate i think, actually considering just going full fat and bundling everything into swisscom. It won't feel just as painful bundled with two phones, TV, internet etc etc.

Indeed, it has changed, just as I am coming off Salt and saw Lyca as a valid alternative. Even committed to porting my number. I suggest Lyca will have to change (why oh why didn't it stay as it was?!) but any challenges will take time to go through regulators. It's still a good deal for within-CH usage, however.
I'm considering UPC's half-arsed attempt at EU mobile roaming offering. No good for calls from CH outwards, however, or between EU countries. Shame. CH regulator needs to get a grip here.

Lyca mobile uses sunrise network, which is OK.

Hi,
I will be working in Geneva next month, but am looking into staying in France near the Swiss border. Since from the discussions, it is said that Lycamobile.ch does not support international roaming anymore, is it possible then to buy a FR Lycamobile? http://www.lycamobile.fr/en/bundle
A few questions:
i) I think somebody mentioned that if we enter another country, Lycamobile will give a local number to use. But somebody also said that did not work for him/her. Any updates since then? If I would have a local number, my colleagues would not be charged excessively then.
ii) My primary usage would be only for data, but I could not find any/cheap data-only plan in Swiss. Or is there?
Thank you in advance!

Roaming of calls and sms, FEEL like home, still works.
Data roaming no, and no addon for that.

Hence I'm looking to change very soon.

I dumped Lycamobile after realising that although there’s the so-called feels like home, there’s a charge for data. Even with data roaming turned off you still pay at the local country rate.
Hence I’m now with UPC which at CHF 35.- per month includes 4gb data and all swiss calls/sms and roaming. For international calls I use a voip app which for €10 gives me 120 days of free calls to U.K., USA and others.
Finally happy(ish).

Got the 10GB Cablecom data plan with unlimited swiss calls and texts. There was an offer a few weeks ago to get it for 10 CHF. *when zou have the 500 MB/s cable connection. I consider it a good deal. Since I have a Galaxy S8 dual sim phone, I put a salt prepaid card in the second SIM slot. Their international calling rates are even better than lycamobile/lebara. (for example: 0.03 rp/min to USA, europe, etc)

Lycamobite's billing remains incomprehensible!
I was in the UK for 6 days last week. 'Like at home' worked perfectly connecting me to O2 network while still on the plane and sending a text with a UK mobile number to give out if needed - this is the number that shows up when you call someone in the UK.
After 3 days I get texts telling me to renew it as it about to expire. It doesn't seem possible to renew it myself and it does it automatically after a week - with a new UK number.
SMSs cost CHF0.07 each. Voice calls are free. Data is a puzzle: firstly it is measured in time not as how much data on their website login. In all I spent some 20 hours of data and it cost about CHF12. Max session was CHF0.50, some were as low as CHF0.01 !
As this was paid from my 'promotional balance' which I get when I top up, it in fact cost me nothing. I think. But for CHF19/month I'm not complaining...
PS I have data roaming off on my iPhone 6S, but mobile data on in the UK. It gives me 3G.

Lycamobile is almost as bad as Lebara....
Though users of both will probably argue which one is the worst. Lebara does seem to have a workable website here in Switzerland and seems to adopt any number of working networks, so much better than its UK version. I have always liked the bonus feature of Lebara.ch, pay chf 100 and get chf 120 free...
Just a warning to those that listen here, never, never attempt to use Lebara in the UK, it is worse than useless. It transmits over the old Vodafone network, only has coverage in the major cities, tends to just provide 3G and 2G access...
I only tried Lyca once over here and gave up.

I am still looking for a provider who would give me the same data rates as Lyca. 19 a month and I have literally unlimited data. Don't bother too much with calls and messages but they work fine when I need them.

Now I still get the SMS on crossing the border, I still get the local number and I can still use local 3g data (data roaming off) . But now the price is more significant.
The choice I guess is..
Stick with it, accept the stupid pricing model and high data cost for the ~6 times per year I go abroad for holiday / weekend etc. And pay ~20 chf per month for the rest of the year.
Or take the big monthly hit with swisscom, get the roaming included and leave because I'm annoyed with Lyca.

I got annoyed too and left for m-budget. Although I can still call landlines in Europe I’ve lost access to mobiles which was handy, so I viber even more now.
During my 6 months unemployment last year for 19chf Lyca was a great deal porting from Salt especially on the old roaming tariffs for weekends in France. Now I’m back to getting local Sims on arrival with Data for my stay.
I’m sure the market will mature, perhaps once Lyca add roaming data bundles to their feel at home service I could switch back. It was great service in 2016 especially while traveling.

I guess you didn't register your card into your name yet?
DOB is used to make sure it's you, it's not used during sign-up.
