If you just want the cheapest most reliable heavy big data plan in the country, use Lyca.

If you have more complex requirements like tethering, roaming, data roaming, calling abroad, using customer service. Look elsewhere and pay the premium.

is it for sure that one can't use tethering on the data package with lyca on any device or is it simply an iPhone thing?

Oh my bad.. Tethering does work!
At least on IOS called personal hotspot. I just hadn't noticed or tried it before.

Tethering does not work on Lycamobile. I see the Personal Hotspot is disabled for me in my iPhone. How does it work for you?

What do you mean? Perhaps is just a matter of settings?

Re: lyca mobile?

Yes. Go to that site. Watch the iPhone video. Do the same in your "Personal Hotspot" APN settings.

does anyone know if credit that one buys expires after 90 days or is that only the bonus credit? I can't seem to figure that out - perhaps I need to go and read the T&Cs in German...

I agree it does seem to be difficult to figure out all the fine print, etc., but in the end I think it will be a better deal than my COOP mobile via Orange where I was paying 30 CHF per month for just 500 MB data and Swiss landline and Orange calls. I will say, calling a Swiss landline with Lyca is expensive at 29 Rappen per minute...and mobiles even more...but I think I will sign up for one of the plans that gives you x minutes and x sms per month and that should solve that problem...

Not exactly. Seems you buy the data package in CH.

For example, to have 1GB data roaming in Italy, you would text 7104 to 3535. It'd cost you 15CHF.

For some reason data roaming in France and Portugal is much more expensive than in other countries.

Where did you find that info on the 1GB data roaming? I scoured their website but couldn't find anything!

Already tried that one and it does not work with Personal Hotspot in APN settings.

For some unexplainable reason they removed Italy from the available data roaming packages in the update to this file http://www.lycamobile.ch/sysimages/m...2015_swiss.pdf.

There goes my plan for using my Lycamobile SIM for data in Italy this summer. How easy would it be to procure a prepaid Lycamobile SIM in Italy, provided I find a store with there Store Locator. Does Italy have any special requirements for issuing prepaid SIMs apart from the usual identification documents?

sorry to tell you your old provider wont let u leave until the 7th. i know its only 4 days but sheesh...

I read that with prepaid numbers you need a transfer code that the current provider must give you - how does that work?

Re: lyca mobile?

So, I'm planning to port my number from Lyca to another provider (Abo).
Lycamobile agent called me 4 times now to ask the same questions:
  • Why do i want to change provider.
  • Whether i move to prepaid or postpaid and if i receive new Phone from new provider.
  • Whether i will recommend Lyca to friends and family..

For the first 3 calls, i said i just want to move to postpaid option and that there is nothing wrong with them. Fourth call, i did not answer and stated that this call is useless since they asked me 3 times already!

If they call me once more, I'd say: "Sie nervt mich!":rolleyes:

Hallo, doesn't anyone have made some experiences with Lyca's roaming packages. It says that you can use the EU bundles as at home except the data bundles and SMS (between your number and CH numbers, as far as I understand).
In addition the Lyca to Lyca are limited to 100 min, when you are roaming.

But the big question is, how can I book data bundles in/for my roaming country
Quote:

Can I use my data allowance in the 17 countries? If not how will I be charged? You unfortunately will not be able to use your existing data allowance, instead you will need to buy a relevant data add-on in order to use your mobile data.

By dialing the appropriate USSD code on this page http://www.lycamobile.ch/sysimages/m...2015_swiss.pdf

Agreed. Although it is on the correct page http://www.lycamobile.ch/en/roaming-sim-card, just above the FAQs, the button that says "View all"

Don't think so. Where do you see roaming data bundles, eg. HOME DATA S1, anywhere other than in the PDF?

PackElend 31.07.2015 11:20

Re: lyca mobile?

PDF:
page 1: HOME Bundles
those are the same than the nation and international bundles, just compare the activation codes

page 2:
Data add-ons (can be activated alongside either a National Plan or a Talk & Text plan )
I assume it works with international bundles as well "National Plan" is bit
contradictory

page 3 as 2

paizuri 31.07.2015 15:45

Re: lyca mobile?

The question is about data add-ons for data roaming abroad.

I still don't see the activation codes (begin with *139*7) anywhere else than the PDF. Maybe I'm blind.
