4G.3G internet in swiss

Having looked at all the networks, in Fribourg, Bern I get a decent enough 4g
signal but really who needs 4G.. orange 3G signal provided me with 30MB down
speeds. Fantastic. The only problem is orange prepaid is a bit hit and miss when it comes to their data bundles. all new sim cards have 300mb free seems, but that plays havoc when trying to add a 1gb bundle.

Orange prepaid seems decent enough with ok 3g coverage in a lot of places
where swisscom and sunrise only gave me Edge.

Suggestions for better value? 19 francs for 1GB is NOT good value
considering other carriers offer 1g for 3 euros or so..

Thanks
A.

Why not go with the 1g for 3 euros then?

So you expect a country with one of the highest cost of living & 8 million inhabitants to have the same economies of scale as a country with 50 million inhabitants

Re: 4G.3G internet in swiss

It costs me 19,00 for 500mb on a Swisscom data only package for iPad cellular.

Admittedly I don't need it like you may with a phone - but that's what it costs; so 1gb for 19 isn't such a rip off.

There are cheaper alternatives, but you need to look at which network is used, and what coverage shortfalls there may be.

..... and I've disabled 4G - as 3G is fine, and is less hungry.

Re: 4G.3G internet in swiss

i noticed sunrise switching over to 4g as well in bern and parts of fribourg
so it was an interesting experiment in battery consumption but not much more.

swisscom is not ideal for most of my surfing. they mostly have 2g on
the trains where sunrise and orange strangely enough keep at least their
3g signal as i'm whipping around the country.

Re: 4G.3G internet in swiss

try lycamobile, i have been using it got the past two years and it has a very good download speeds.

they are offering 1GB @ 6CHF and i think they have other offers like free 3G for a month on recharges (my friend tried a 5CHF recharge and got 3GB for a month free).

they also have incredible ISD calling rates.

PS: i switched from Orange to Lyca looking at their ISD and internet offers. i make very little local calls.

Re: 4G.3G internet in swiss

Dear Sir,

Excellent Call, I bought a lycamobile sim card, and im porting my fav
number over to them.. their CS is kind, and got back to my request to port
my number over with a verification. 6 francs for 1Gb great value and
lots of good prices to overseas which is where my customers are.

Again thanks...

OH as a bonus lycamobile are offering 10 francs a month free credit for the first 3 months.. even better....
got to love some competition... if they suck later then port on to next carrier. sadly takes 3 weeks... takes
2 hours in UK to move your number and 2 days in HK.. oh well... at least it will happen...
