Cablecom TV - apartment installation problem

Hi,

I just moved to a bigger apartment an I'm starting to set everything up .

I found out the room where the TV/Radio socket is is where I want to have my bedroom.

I'd like to have it at the leaving-room.

Does anyone knows if there's a way to ask for someone to change the installation?

Or, is there a wireless way of doing it?

I'm trying to avoid drilling through 3 walls [the kitchen is between].

Thanks, Alex

Speak to the hauswart to see if they can do it or recommend someone else to do it. For all other issues call Cablecom.

Re: Cablecom TV - apartment installation problem

Note that the owner of the building is responsible for all of the in-building cabling, as it physically belongs to him.

To change the current socket from one room to another is not always easy or possible.

I managed to do it once where, luckily, I had a socket on both sides of a wall. So all I needed was a screwdriver.

But sometimes it is much harder than that.
Wireless solutions vary depending on what you want to do.

For internet, a WiFi router can be plugged into the existing Cablecom socket and then you can enjoy internet all over the house. Typical routers cost between 50 and 100 sFr.

For telephone, again you can connect a cordless phone to the Cablecom modem and enjoy wireless telephone throughout the house. costs for a cordless phone are well under sFr 100

For television, you can use a Cablecom digital TV receiver on the existing socket, and then connected to a wireless video sender, which has a two-way connection for the remote control. Then you can have the TV anywhere in the house. Not sure of the price of such wireless video senders but they can be found in various shops like InterDiscount.
If you want just the stone age analogue TV, then it will be much harder. You may have no solution other than extending the cable.

Depending on the construction of your apartment, such wireless solutions may be the easiest and cheapest way to 'shift' the current cable TV socket from one room to another.
