| | Best Mobile service network
Hello Everybody,
This is my first message on this forum. I will be taking up a job in Zurich from January. Moving from London. I want to know the best mobile network provider I can use whilst my stay in Zurich which is for one year at the moment.
- I want internet access
- Mainly to text and of course phone calls but not too many
Would it be better and cheaper to sign for a contract for a year? I heard Orange will be the best but would appreciate any other suggestions and how much a monthly cost would be.
Thank you so much in advance for all the help I can get |

General rule of thumb is that Orange is the best in terms of coverage to price.

But the very best coverage and fastest Internet throughout the country is Swisscom.

As others have mentioned, Swisscom has the best coverage, but expect to pay a pretty penny if you want the best out of it. With Orange, you can have a decent plan with lots of data (including LTE) and limited calls/text for 50 CHF per month or less. With Swisscom, expect to pay well into 100 CHF if you're after LTE. That said, if you're also looking at getting a telephone line and TV for your home, Swisscom's all-in-1 deals might be worth it. If not, and price is a factor, Orange is the way to go.
BTW, if your stay is for one year, don't forget to cancel your mobile contract at least two months before your departure or it will be automatically extended! Lots of people get caught out with this.

Aldi mobile is the cheapest prepaid option without a contract. If you don't do a lot of calling it will be cheaper to go prepaid, and you don't have to worry about canceling the contract at the end of the year. You can add an internet plan from 10 francs/month.

With the 3 main networks you have physical shops where you can get help and English speaking CS over the phone.

I found Lebara to be a good alternative and it's also very cheap to call UK.

hey, I am moving to Zurich as of january as well and just been researching the same thing, I was wondering -- can I still use my 3G iphone (just getting it unlocked) over there if I were to take a contract only with orange? is there any chance to sort this out online or over the phone before arriving or best to go in to the shop when you already there?

[QUOTE=Russkov;2035081]As others have mentioned, Swisscom has the best That said, if you're also looking at getting a telephone line and TV for your home, Swisscom's all-in-1 deals might be worth it.
If I were to get this package including a mobile contract for a year, how much the price would be with Swisscom?
By the way, thank you so much everyone for helping me out on this. Really appreciate it |
