Porting a phone number mid-contract (small commercial contract with Sunrise)

Hi,
I am leaving my company and want to take my mobile phone number with me (as all my friends have that number). There are 15 months left on the contract and it's paid for by work on a small commercial contract. My replacement will take over the phone contract and work will continue to pay for it.

However, when I called up Sunrise to "port" my number out and replace it with another number, to be used by the new employee, I was told that the phone number stays with the contract and I can not "port" to a new provided unless I paid off the remainder of the contract, a full CHF 1150!

I want to keep my phone number and take it to my new employer who will pay my new phone bill.

Has anyone else had an issue like this and been able to port a number mid-contract without having to terminate the contract?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

they'll never shift.

nobody dials a number any more, dump the number, take a new one, let your friends know. Free.

I also can't imagine your employer would be in favor of letting you take the number with you. After all, it is your professional contact number where all your (their) customers call, right? So if you take the number with you, there's the potential you're taking the clients too.
