Cancel cablecom account

I will be leaving Basel in 3 months, and would like to know how do I go about cancelling my cablecom services (TV, internet, phone) and returning their equipment?
Thanks for any help!

Re: Cancel cablecom account

You will need to write them a letter, by registered post, cancelling you subscriptions. You must give them 3 full months notice (from the day the letter arrives), so you may have to resign yourself to paying an extra month as we're half way through February. In your letter, you need to specify you are cancelling both your cablecom subscription and your subscription to your cable connection provider. You may wish to also write a separate letter, also by registered post, to the cable provider cancelling your subscription and asking for a refund of any remaining balance (if for example you pay 6 months at a time). In both letters, ask for written confirmation of the cancellation.

You can return the equipment to a cablecom store. You don't need to have the boxes. They will give you a receipt which you must keep.

Hope that helps - the above is written from bitter experience of trying to cancel a cablecom subscription.

Re: Cancel cablecom account

Have a look at this link from the UPC Cablecom website regarding contract termination - https://support-en.upc-cablecom.ch/a...al-tv%2C-phone

See also this link regarding cancelling the cable connection - https://support-en.upc-cablecom.ch/a...al-tv%2C-phone

I know someone who recently did this over the telephone and which it states on their website is also possible. They were then sent a contract cancellation confirmation letter and a self-addressed label for return of the equipment ASAP after the termination end date.

I would give them a call in the first instance and then go from there.

If you don't speak or understand German, that's not an issue, as many of their Customer Service Reps speak English.

Get on it ASAP and good luck!

Re: Cancel cablecom account

Are you sure it's not already cancelled, as you seem unable to find any winter Olympics coverage?

Another posters have already provided a necessary bit of information, so I'll just add my recent experience.

I sent a free-style registered letter in English requesting them to terminate my Internet contract in a couple of month. About 4 days later I've received a phone call from one of their employee where I've been asked (in English) about the reasons of termination. Basically, that was it.

Regarding the equipment, I guess it depends on how long you're using their services. Likely it shall be returned. However, in the town I live they are performing massive replacement of old routers. In the supplementary letter they clear state that the old router shall be recycled.

Calling and asking them would be the safest option.

Re: Cancel cablecom account

Usually unless they get you first on the phone they dont cancel the contract. I sent my letter and thought all is well, but someone keep calling and calling... until I picked up and they try to make me stay but then you just say no thanks.

I didnt have to sent anytihng back.

If you move out of the country, it's one month notice. At least it was with me. Written letter, registred too. I called them first and just did whatever the lady said. worked perfectly. Return thingies in shop at Bankverein super easy.

This is not correct.

I recently moved from Basel to Mordor Inner Schweiz. I called Cablecom and gave notice over the phone. They sent me a sticker to paste onto the box in which I had to send the TV receiver and Modem back.

I gave 3 weeks notice on the phone, sent the goods back and that was it.

Maybe the fact that they don't serve Morder Inner Schweiz has something to do with their willingness to act like a flexible service provider.

Re: Cancel cablecom account

An old thread I know, but I just tried to cancel on the grounds that it's too expensive and they offered to waive the kabalanschluss fee. I said no I still want to cancel as it's still cheaper elsewhere and the guy started to get really upset and in the end offered me 50% off the monthly subscription too which I've temporarily agree to. I think I should have told them I would be moving!

Re: Cancel cablecom account

When you move somewhere , where is no service from cablecom available , you can cancel the contract and the end of each month, because cablecom is not able to deliver its service at your new address.
Return the hardware from cablecom in time to avoid getting charged for the hardware you are not using anymore.
It is enough to send cablecom an email with your new address, cancelling their contract, so they can verify that they are
not be able to deliver their service.

Re: Cancel cablecom account

Cablecom is known for "bad customer service", so keep paying until the contract is finished, sometimes they forget to sending an invoice or if you changed to electronic invoices, they start to send invoices per post(cost 1.50 per Month)

When we cancelled recently - they sent us an addressed and postage-paid box to return the router.

You should call Cablecom up to ask them the date from when you can quit the abo.
