Looks a lot like what Citycable offer in Lausanne... Swisscom is only attractive if you're in a building that has fiber uplink.

I just ordered ours, including a free new modem/router. Our current Swisscom TV box is only 4 years old, but is pretty unreliable sometimes and the remote is awful.

Which router do you mean? Do you mean this one? I have the old router. We currently have the old Swisscom Netopia modem.

Yes agreed. I only get max 20,000 with Swisscom so to change to Swisscom TV 2 is not worth it as I dont get any benefit from the increased speed. But generally its far more attractive than Cablecom. Here in Zürich I have to wait 2 years for Glasfibre. But when it comes I will definitely upgrade. | Quote: | | | | | Looks a lot like what Citycable offer in Lausanne... Yes but Swisscom is making Cablecom very nervous now with the spread if glassfibre. | Quote: | | | | | Simply the download speed on offer, the highest available being 20Mbps. Cable beats that every time... | | | | | |

Oh and I don't like PPPoE/PPPoA.

I live out in the country and have used a local cable provider, Cablecom and Swisscom.
The local cable provider was excellent, this was several years ago and their speed and service I have not seen from any other company, even as far as them dropping a new cable modem around to the apartment at 23.00 at night on a Saturday as I dropped them a mail earlier in the evening saying i was having a problem.
My experience with Cablecom was that they were super quick to begin with, then had ongoing issues that saw my cable speed drop lower than a 56k modem, several months and many promises later and it was still not resolved. Their customer service is atrocious.
Swisscom on the other hand can only manage 25Mb download where we are, but it is extremely stable, enough for our needs (including SwisscomTV, online gaming and pretty heavy downloading), their customer service is also pretty good.
I've been looking at Swisscom TV2, but the only benefit i saw was the 7 day replay, not something I'm really interesting in paying 99 CHF to setup. Please let me know if I am missing something else.

There are a few more new channels and the picture quality is by some people said to be better. Maybe wait until they do some special deals like free setup etc http://www.swisscom.ch/en/residentia.../channels.html | Quote: | | | | | I would have to disagree if the cable provision is Cablecom. UPC Cablecom has really bad customer care service...
they don't do the support in english even the person understand and speak english. I am with them and i have all the time problem with my box and they didn't want to change it...Good I am an IT then I can manage it.
Stay with Swisscom unless you have bad ligne or in Lausanne take citycable...
have fun

Finally managed to get the new Swisscom TV 2.0 box installed. Was a pretty frustrating journey though. For some reason, the modem wouldn't initialise at first, and despite many phone calls to Customer care, promised call-backs not forthcoming etc, it still wouldn't work; there was no DSL signal coming through. It all turned up to be due to a faulty DSL cable; replaced it with our old one and it worked immediately.
Anyway, the TV service is similar to our previous, but the menu is very different and is more like the web Swisscom TV menu. I like the Replay option, where you can select on which channels you can watch missed and not-recorded shows. It has also stored all our previously recordings back to the beginning of March. Remote is sleak and non-fussy, but because it is Bluetooth, we can't programme it to operate our TV. The actual TV box is very neat, it is smaller than a Mac Mini and because it has no HD, it is silent. Our internet speed was also increased with the package, but the modem is not the Internet Box, which is only for Fibre-optic customers; we have the Grande Centro instead.

Unless I'm really missing the point here, you must be working for Swisscom.

They had an issue and the earliest the engineer could get to them was the following week. Ten minutes before he was due to turn up, they called to say he wouldn't be able to make it and the earliest available slot wasn't for another week.
Compare that with Swisscom, who promised to send out an engineer at the earliest possible opportunity, ie this morning (I cancelled the appt though as I'd already solved the issue).
I think it's because Cablecom outsource engineers from local cable companies, whereas Swisscom use their own.
Also, according to my mate, if you have a Cablecom tech issue and say the magic word "Swisscom", your ticket automatically gets a higher priority .
