Three Mobile UK, Extending "feel at home" to Switzerland

For those with a UK address/residence and who are looking for a good/great way to do data roaming. Effective July 1st, Three Mobile (a UK mobile provider) just extended its Feel at home offer to include Switzerland!

The idea is that three subscribers (pay monthly or pay as you go) can use their allowance while roaming at no extra cost. in the case of calls and txt/sms it is to make calls to the UK only (receiving is free) but the big thing data of which (if you have unlimited data) one can use up to 25GB/Month.

The great news is that the deal will from July 1st include Switzerland France, Norway, Finland and Israel. this is on top of the already existing list of countries which include , Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Macau, Australia, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong, Sweden, Denmark and the Republic of Ireland

better dig the old dusty Three simcard and topup with £15 for unlimited (All-you-can-eat) data.

I've already switched to Three (from EE) due to their excellent 3.2.1 PAYG deal. Any idea who their roaming partner is in CH.. hope its not Sunrise

Three has roaming partner agreement with both Sunrise and Swisscom!

Edit: from the looks of things, one would have to be content with 3G speed as 4G/LTE roaming is not mentioned at all!

Their website currently shows Sunrise and Swisscom as roaming partners and both offering data.

Only downside is you get a UK number rather than a swiss one ...

Yes indeed, this could be a snag for some who over use! Upon further digging into the T&C's one can find the following:

"Feel At Home is intended for our UK customers who are visiting one of the destinations for short trips, like holidays or business trips. If you only use your plan in a Feel At Home destination for a complete month, and this happens three times within a year, we may have to suspend international roaming on your account, which would mean you wouldn’t be able to use your phone or device abroad anymore. We’d let you know if this were likely to happen. If you spend a full month abroad but some of that time is spent in a destination that isn’t included in Feel At Home, the restriction won’t apply."

I do hope the German providers will do the same very soon. Just great. 25GB is way enough…

Re: Three Mobile UK, Extending "feel at home" to Switzerland

I've just had roaming disabled by three; my handset no longer registers here with my Three UK SIM in.

I called to ask about it, and they've disabled roaming for me because I exceeded a threshold of time not in the UK.

Although this has been in their Ts&Cs for years, this is the first time I've been affected by it. Perhaps they've just started enforcing it.

I guess I'll port the number to Vodafone next time I'm in the UK, if I can be bothered to keep my British number on.

Aside: this is one of those ridiculous "My blah" things. Their online account management is called "My Three". Thus, during a conversation, the rep refers to it as "your My Three", and I refer to it as "my My Three account". Which genius MBA thought this naming was a good idea? And it seems to be contagious, as though it isn't obviously stupid to call someone's blah "My Blah".

Re: Three Mobile UK, Extending "feel at home" to Switzerland

I don't approve of the word "Vodafone" being linkified by the forum in my previous message, as such linkage was not part of my authorship of the message, and this is not at all clear from the presentation of the information.
