| | UPC Change Over Day Problems
Hi All,
Has anyone else had problems since UPC had it's digital "change-over day" on June 3rd?
My TV at home is totally stuffed - it works for exactly 10 minutes, then loses the signal and will not get a signal again for at least 12 hours. The office TV lost the only channel I watched - CNBC. Both TVs are in central Zurich and use a digicard. I tried updating the TV software. I tried a new channel scan. Nothing helps.
I am a foolish foreigner who speaks no German/French/Italian, so calling the support line is a non-event.
But maybe someone here has had similar problems, successfully communicated with UPC and can advise?

it's not hard to call them and speak English. Try it....you will get someone and it should not take too long.

I have tried. It took me 10 attempts pushing random buttons just to get through the phone menu last time
But I will call them if it doesn't resolve itself this week.
Just thought I'd see if anyone else had also experienced problems...

As usual on EF there is not enough information to make a decent assessment.
1) do you use the CI+ card
2) do you use a UPC-cablecom box
You received a letter in May, did you search / install your TV after 3rd June, as required?

ha ha - yeah! See, I did give the info.
But I am not expecting this forum to serve as an English language UPC support service.
I was more looking for: "Oh yeah. I also have that problem. Doesn't it suck?!?. Wah wah wah. I called UPC and they told me..."
You know, just a general group whinge where maybe some useful information falls out...
I was bored and not yet ready to deal with the guilt that comes with calling a Swiss phone line when I don't speak any of their languages...

Ours worked after a channel scan. What tv do you have? Also, I agree, I have had good customer service from them and they spoke English even if I didn't request it .
If you don't understand the menus, you could always try "0" - sometimes works to get you through - but I thought the last time I called they had a choice of English?

I've found leaving them a message on their customer service twitter account gets picked up fairly quickly and they will arrange for an English speaker to call you.
I experienced signal dropout for the first two days, but all seems ok now after a full reset of my Horizon box.

You can also email them if you hate their phone menu and don't mind waiting for a reply (never tried it so dunno how quick they are) or check their community forums to see if someone has the same issues.

........ CHANNEL SEARCH ........ CHANNEL SEARCH ........ CHANNEL SEARCH ........ http://www.upc-cablecom.ch/content/d..._0211_dfie.pdf
Follow instructions from p.21 on, and ensure you enter the parameters from the card that came with the Digicard.

Let me give this a go... |

FAIL!
Well, I sucked up my guilt and called UPC because at least for the office account I have a direct number. They told me they have "the key" and now it should magically work again in 3 hours.
Hmmm. We shall see.
I will have to deal with the home tv later.
