GoodBye My Beloved Lebara FlatRate

Oh well ..
It couldn't last forever. My DATA FLAT 14.90 per month totally unlimited data plan .

So they suggest I go from 14.90 to 79.90 .. Just because I use 10gb of data

Moving to Lyca, they have the next best rates I think and on Swisscom too.

79.90 for 10gb? Even Swisscom's cheaper than that - are they nuts?

Re: GoodBye My Beloved Lebara FlatRate

In over 2 years of using my current phone I've clocked up just 3.1GB total use - and that's using it daily on my commute.

I'm baffled as to how people get through 10GB a month on a mobile device.

I struggle to use 500MB - but I don't normally stream (too much) - and when I do, it's on my Padi with Swisscom TV Air.

Re: GoodBye My Beloved Lebara FlatRate

I find it quite easy to rack up 10gb. 1 hour commute each way, streaming TV, spotify, browsing.. It adds up.

There's wifi at some stations but my 4g signal is usually better.

Re: GoodBye My Beloved Lebara FlatRate

Aren't there certain business carriages that have wifi now?

I don't use the trains much, myself, but I'm sure I've seen a wifi sticker by the door - and read something, here, too.

Ahh - just found this, so doesn't look ideal.

http://www.swisscom.ch/en/about/medi...ne_im_Zug.html

Then I found this, which is more what I was thinking (general page link, may have to click 'Internet Access')

http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-service...d-service.html

..... and for TV streaming, a Swisscom TV Air sub. at 9,00 per month for unlimited streaming via the Swisscom TV app. may be worth considering.
I don't think you need any other Swisscom sub. before you can subscribe to Air ..... I do, so can't say for certain.

E.g. My IPad mini has a 19,00 data sub for 500MB (pcm), plus 9,00 for the TV. I seldom get through the 500MB, and when I do, there's no extra charge - the bandwidth is just throttled ....... but TV Air will still work without problems.

So Lycamobile uses the Swisscom network? If so that would be a good option for me. You also get 4G?

I'm using M-Budget which is also Swisscom but the phone call rates are fairly steep.

I'm baffled as to how you have only used 4.4mb per day in 2 years. In this digital day and age, your usage is more odd than John H's.

How is email and getting on with work odd? I think it's odd in this day and age that people don't use their commute time productively and waste time watching TV.

It's odd because the vast majority of people now use their phones for recreational purposes too. We get it, you are old-skool, and that's fine... but many people like to relax during their daily commutes, aswell as use their phones as the digital media powerhouses they are now intended to be.

Perhaps for them watching TV is using their time productively, because it de-stresses them from the workday and they don't go home and kick the cat or something.

Re: GoodBye My Beloved Lebara FlatRate

Have a look at Sunride basic plan, cheap but not much data - okay add Speed Extra (Chf1 day for 1Gb) Basic Chf20 + 30x1 = Chf50 for all in calls, sms and data. I am just not sure how many days a month you are allowed to use speed extra. Plus it is a monthly plan so no long term commitments, just by your phone somewhere else.

At home my time belongs to the family. At work it belongs to my employer. My commute is my time.

So it's productive for me

Re: GoodBye My Beloved Lebara FlatRate

Did a little test yesterday, got my new sim from Lyca, excellent coverage, speed tested on LTE at 19m down and 15m up.. Used it as normal, wi-if at work at various streaming and browsing on way home.
I used 400mb of data!!

So I'm sure I could cut that by switching things off and doing less, but just shows how much data is transferred.
