I'm still happy with my 40" Samsung from two years ago that I got for 444CHF in Migros. I've no plans to upgrade.

Samsung UE50JU6870 @699 CHF in migros online.

An excellent tv; 4k, nano crystals, good color, good black levels.

I bought one.

Please provide links if you tell people about a deal... it's kind of good deal etiquette. http://www.melectronics.ch/p/de/Sams...&service=false

Looks like a nice TV, certainly better than the one this thread was created for as I bet motion handling is much better. Almost tempted to sell mine and upgrade---

The standard exposure time for 24P is 1/48 second & for 25P is 1/50 second, so unless the camera is on a tripod & there is no motion 4k of resolution just won't be there. It becomes very obvious when watching a feature film is being rendered frame by frame out at 4k that colour space & dynamic range are more important than resolution.
That no longer applies to digitally captured high resolution films. The exposure time can be much shorter, and they can also film at higher frame rates for future proofing and then either digitally merge (which would lose detail) or discard frames to produce a rate currently supported.

40"? How can you discern any detail on such a tiny screen? Is your living room 11 sq. m?

I heard that they tried to donate some 40" TV's to the migrant camps but had them rejected as they were generally used to larger TV's even in Syria.

I had some immigrants break into my apartment a few days ago; they left me all their clothes and spare change before cleaning up and leaving.

Nice of them; that'll save the police some time when they arrest them!

Re: Samsung 50" 4K TV, 777.00 in Migros

This weekend I'll order the LG 49UF850V for 799.-

It's LG IPS panel'd 4K television with 2000Hz refresh rate (won't matter to our eyes), with 3D. If there's a better deal above 49" 4K 3D let me know... But I don't think there's anything better for now.

No 3D, no IPS panel. Altough 1" bigger and more energy efficient

1. 3D is rubbish on home TV's, it's a gimmick, nothing more.
2. IPS suffers from poor black levels (they look washed out and grey) the same as their desktop PC monitor counterparts, it a known bugbear of the panel technology. The Samsung VA panels are better in that regard.

Plus, Samsung has all of the on-demand UK TV channels, which are worth their weight in gold.

Is OLED worthed or too soon? The black are as black as a blackhole. I know they are expensive but if it's worth the money why not?

If you have the money the new Panasonic OLED is basically the best TV ever made. Like, ever. http://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer...-65cz952b.html

However unless you really are loaded with disposable income then it's not worth buying for a couple of years yet until prices come down to sensible levels.

I'd give my right arm for one though...

Well that one seems too high-end But I guess I'll wait since it's too soon for OLED and I can't stand curved screens

LG also have a non-curved version of their OLED which is significantly cheaper than the Panasonic.

Re: Samsung 50" 4K TV, 777.00 in Migros

This TV is a 2014 Model and only a 6 series, hence budget in migros as
old stock...

Better deal 2015 Model - Digitec 899 CHF
Samsung UE55JU6470 (55", LCD/LED, UHD, 900Hz, Wi-fi)

I was talking to Samsung sales guy in John Lewis and he said anything 4k needs to really be 8 or 9 series...

He recommended UE55JS8500, I'm ordering UE55JS9000, he also advised wait till March as price will drop as new UE55KS models come out...

1499.–
Samsung UE55JS8580 (55", LCD/LED, UHD, 1900Hz, Curved, 3D, Wi-fi, SUHD

Netflix stream some 4K movies...

Happy shopping

Cheers

Re: Samsung 50" 4K TV, 777.00 in Migros

I'm sorry but nor you or the sales guy know what they are talking about.

This is a 2015 model a J.

On top of that it has the quantum dot technology (as 8 and 9 series).

It covers 91% of dci p3 color gamut and it's 4k.

Fully compatible with Netflix and reads h.265
