Hi all, I'm looking at getting a new TV, and I saw a good deal on a Sony which has freeview built in. I asked the guy in the shop what that mean for Swiss TV, and he very politely told me he didn't know what it meant, and thought that was just something for the UK. So, if I buy the tv what use what benefit would freeview give.

Freeview would give no extra benefit here. You receive all your cab le channels through cable. If you want extra channels you need to subscribe to Cablecom (Digital Cable TV) or Bluewin TV (ADSL broadband TV).

You can install a satellite dish and pick up all the free-to-air channels, including all the BBC and ITV channels. You need have South facing access and it should not go against house rules.

The apartment has cablecom, but we have to get the owners permission for a satilite. I asked a question on dishes which was also answered.
