anyway, this blocking is easy to bypass. They will block just VPN providers, so it's enough to buy some cheap VPS in preferred country and run your own VPN server...

Re: NetFlix Cracks Down on VPN and Proxy Pirates

I haven't had any blockage from US Netflix. Or for that matter from any of the other services I can access via VPNs either b/c I subscribe (Cablecom's Horizon https://www.horizon.tv/en_ch ) or BBC/ITV or US networks. I have several VPN sources, including WiTopia and Cloak. But also pay for BSkyB, Swiss Cablecom (and Teledis for Valais rental flats but they don't do what Cablecom does, which not least is their iPhone app so I can answer my Swiss Cablecom VoIP landline anywhere in the world and who's to know I'm not there?)

As soon as the IP guys think they've got a blocker, some smarter geek has a workaround.

And lest everybody think I am not fair to creative people, I have an (old) thank you letter from Jack Valenti thanking me for a lecture I gave in Asia once on why respect for IP is good. And with all my subscriptions to services I hardly use, I pay big bucks. And I have a BBC TV license and I pay commercial rates to Billag.

Also annoyingly it has no "save for later" function, so I cant build up a playlist. Most annoying.
Netflix has a "My List" function - so you can definitely build up a playlist, I have. You just go into the TV show or movie and click on "Add to my list".

Re: NetFlix Cracks Down on VPN and Proxy Pirates

Hi, I've been having some issues with my Netflix account recently and wondered if anyone else has been having issues recently?

When I signed up for my account I used a virtual USD visa card, which is linked to a US PayPal account. It has been working well for a number of years, but this month the automatic renewal didn't go through. That's happened a couple of times in the past when I've forgotten to top up my virtual credit card. However this time there was more than enough on there. Now whenever I try to update the payment settings in Netflix, I just get a message saying that "Your PayPal transaction has been cancelled."

I've tried speaking to paypal to see what the problem is, and after 45 minutes on the phone to them, they said there is no problem, must be on the Netflix side. Then calling Netflix they say the issue is on the PayPal side.

I'm lost now as to what to do? Am I part of this crack down, or has my over complex setup finally caught up with me?

they'll likely block the VPS servers as well. I had a server droplet with DigitalOcean. That one was blocked by Hulu from day one, for example.
