Mobile and internet provider

Hello,

I am moving in Zurich and I am looking for the ideal mobile and internet providers. By ideal I mean cheap, quick to activate, and with decent network quality.

On mobile I would need 500MB 3G, 1h national call and some credit on European numbers. Are there some operators to avoid?

Regarding internet, is there any decent provider for CHF 30/month?
And how long does it take to activate an ADSL landline?

Thanks

Check the Swisscom.ch, Sunrise.ch and Orange.ch - all will be revealed :-)

Quick check will reveal for example:
- Swisscom Natel Infinity M - unlimited calls/SMSs to Swiss, 30min/mth to foreign, unlimited surf @ 15Mbit/s - CHF 99/mth
- Sunrise Freedom Classic - unlimited calls/SMSs to Swiss, max 1GB surf at full speed - CHF 50/mth
- Orange Me Unlimited Swiss + Surf 1 - unlimited calls/SMSs to Swiss, max 1GB surf at full speed - CHF 65/mth
Plenty of other options up and down the scale...

Swisscom have the best network, followed closely by Sunrise, Orange brings up the rear but is still good at least in the main populated areas (out in the sticks it can be a different matter - speaking from experience).

Re: Mobile and internet provider

Das Abo - MVNO on Orange - 49
M-Mobile - MVNO on Swisscom - 29

It depends how many minutes to international numbers you'll need and how often.

Re: Mobile and internet provider

Thanks for your reply, I went to cablecom who have a clear technology advance allowing to activate the line straightforwardly without calling and waiting for a technician.

And Yallo offers unbeatable mobile phone plan.

Re: Mobile and internet provider

For internet, I use GGA Maur, but not sure if they service all of Zurich or only my area.
I use Orange for my mobile. I was very happy with them for the first year until I wanted to change from a monthly plan to pre-paid. It took many visits to the shop and phone calls to finally cancel the plan.

Yallo. They use Sunrise network and prices are very good. Forget about subscriptions for the beginning, unless you are willing to pay some deposit (may vary, but usually 1k+)

In Switzerland, "waiting for the technician" is not usually much of a problem. In general, one is given an appointment very quickly, and the technician is very likely to be reliable and arrive at the agreed time.

However... although I don't know the current situation, for some time cablecom, specifially, had a bad reputation for customer service, and I know people who have billed double, and others whose phone line has broken down several times. It could be that this kind of trouble has since been fixed within cablecom

Re: Mobile and internet provider

I can give my two-penneth on TV, internet and mobile packages also:

Went with Migros Budget Mobile for CHF 29 per month. 500 mins, 500 texts and 1GB of data, which is carried by Swisscom. Ordered online and it came by post (you have to sign for it). So far so good, although you may need a Swiss friend to help you understand the contract options - i.e. new number required vs overtaking old etc.

Went with Cablecom's "Horizon Cool Duo" TV and internet bundle for CHF 85 per month (first 2 months are CHF 69, but there's also a one-time activation fee of CHF 49 applicable). Ordered it over the phone and the plug-in modem came in the post. TV offering includes 135 channels and quite a few English channels. Internet offering includes fast + reliable WiFi throughout my 75sqm apt.

Job done!
