Netflix.ch

I'm thinking of signing up for this, and would appreciate any feedback from people that use Netflix.ch

Re: Netflix.ch

Like with anything, the .ch really dampens your experience. It's halfway decent if you're into series but terrible for movies. The US version is much more extensive.

Re: Netflix.ch

Thanks Lib, so how easy is it to get a US account. I'd be accessing via Apple TV.

No idea, but I believe to have seen the solution on the other Netflix thread.

Re: Netflix.ch

The US version does have more options but the CH selection is great! And you will have access to House of Cards and Better Call Saul as the same time as US users. I find that it's also a good way to learn German as there are some German offerings and the option for German subtitles.

Re: Netflix.ch

As far as I'm aware (and I'm a Netflix subscriber myself, so I do know something), it doesn't matter in which country you register your account: you'll see the selection based on where you're located. Or rather, based on your IP address.

So even if you have a US account, in Switzerland you'll see the Swiss selection. And with your Swiss subscription you'll see the US version during your stay in the US.

That is, unless you use a VPN. With a VPN you can hop between the Swiss, French, German, Scandinavian, Dutch, UK and US selection, or whichever tickles your fancy, regardless of where you're located at the moment.

It's even semi-OK: http://www.theguardian.com/technolog...lock-vpn-users

Re: Netflix.ch

I am happy with it. Have caught up with a lot of great tv series, and occasional movies (not the greatest selection, as noted, but fair enough). I figure for the monthly price it's better than what you pay for on-demand. You can get a 30 day free trial to test it out.

Re: Netflix.ch

Hi, my experience with Netflix has been very good. The collection of series is as good as anywhere else. Movies not as much but I was just happy to get so much of English content here in CH.
One other thing this is great for us is the content for children and that too in English.

Re: Netflix.ch

I love Netflix, both Swiss and US versions. I don't notice that much of a difference, I gave up using my VPN and now exclusively use the Swiss one. In fact, some things I wanted to watch were on the Swiss site and not the US site.

Definitely worth the money in my opinion.

Re: Netflix.ch

What are the best sources to watch live sport to compliment a Netflix subscription?

Is it possible to completely replace SwissCom or Cablecom subscription? Is anyone doing that?

Re: Netflix.ch

Netflix.ch is worth to have for a couple of months, they dont update that often and I have had it for 3 months now I cannot find anything worth the time anymore.

No updates, Some series don't have all seasons like top-gear.
I will cancel it soon. but 11 a month for like 4 months is just like a evening in the cinema with the girl in Zürich so good value for the money.

Also first month they charged me twice and they keep charging for two devices when I only use it on my tv since all my computers I run Linux and they don't support linux. I changed the subscription to 1 device 3 times I don't know why it goes back to 2 devices. but only 2chf difference anyway.

Re: Netflix.ch

Totally depends what you want to watch is the correct answer..

Do the month trial and see if it has what you need. There's plenty of content but is it what you want?

The big omission for me are the discovery channels like National Geographic and history channels etc .. Thousands of hours of that stuff in the US version, not in the CH version. Second to that is the kids choice, with the US version there are hundreds of kids or family movies, in the CH version usually we end up downloading something or switching on the VPN.

Re: Netflix.ch

I personally love Netflix. I am still paying for my subscription in Canada, but I watch the Swiss version on my phone and the US version on my Laptop.

The US version is far superior to the other two and is easy enough to get if you use a program that helps with your IP address. I just hook my Laptop up to my tv.

I also love Netflix. Never thought of actually hooking up my laptop t my computer to access the US library. Thanks for the idea.

Re: Netflix.ch

Are the series and films in the Swiss version all in the original language? And are you also able to get Subtitles in French and Italian?

Re: Netflix.ch

Hello,

some months ago I subscribed for Netflix but the most of the movies were in German so there was no wide range of movies available (for not german speaking)...so I unsubscribed.

I was a negatively surprised

Re: Netflix.ch

I use netflix here and almost all of the films/TV are available in English, but some have the option of French and German audio/subtitles. I recommend it.

Just gutted that the new season of House of Cards isn't available here....

Hey. I'd just signed up just for this reason - and its bloomin' annoying not to have HoC! Do you have any info on when it will become available? Seasons 1 and 2 are there already so I assume it's not a 'never' thing.
