Re: Orange CH name change - 23.04.2015

The network name displayed on your phone can be taken either from the SIM card or from transmission over the air (NITZ). The NITZ also takes the current date/time from the network as well as the operator name.

If your phone has a "SIM Card Manager", you might be able to change it manually there. Maybe also try to select to take the date/time from the network rather than manually set (if it isn't already.) Otherwise try a new SIM card. Altho some SIM cards, especially pre-paid resellers (eg. Aldi, M-Budget, etc.) tend to manually override the NITZ name to have their name displayed from the SIM card instead.

Re: Orange CH name change - 23.04.2015

I have(had?) a subscription to mobile data for my ipad with orange. Every month I would log in to see my bill and pay it by credit card. However, since the change to Salt I was no longer able to use my logn information and it appears my account was deleted. I set up a new account with the same log in details and was surprised to find that there was no mention of my abo in the account details. To find my account info they request a mobile phone number so they can send an SMS to it. However since I have an ipad, it doesnt really have sms capabillity. There is also no phone number listed anywhere on the small welcome packet and sim card packet that i received from orange almost 2 years ago......

Anyone else have this problem?

It seems that Orange's billing problems did not disappear with the name change:

On my Salt prepaid, I've got a free 300MB once for billing issues. Since then it is always displayed in the account page but I cannot use it :-) Then there is a 20MB displayed which I cannot use.
And then my 500MB recharge disappeared after about 50MB.

I wouldn't dare having a postpaid with them - with prepaid the losses are at least limited.

I think they did a very bad job in getting the message out about their name change.

Until recently, I only saw their ads in the cinema and thought that it was a popcorn company or something.

They sent (me and my girlfriend at least) numerous messages in the lead up and after the change and we then got an email encouraging us to create a new account on their website. This is on top of the ads plastered everywhere and in all the newspapers. Not sure what else you could have wanted

I got a call from them yesterday asking me as to how i found the changeover, whether I had any problems and asking if I had any suggestions. I think that was fairly encouraging sign from them, whether they will act on anything I said is another matter entirely though

Re: Orange CH name change - 23.04.2015

For you its an encouraging sign, but actually its a sign the transition has
not gone down well with existing customers or new customers. SALT as a brand is a utter failure. There is no public discussion, no energy, no news. Its transition date came and went with little or no fanfare, their PAYG offerings are just copy and paste. Offering 20mb a day for $$ is just laughable, even sunrise offers unlimited data for 1f/day capped speed 256, lycamobile offers rates 5-45f 0-10gb.

SALT offers nothing better or worse then other brands in the swiss market. If the new SALT owners want to see some payback.. time to get competitive.

Sadly, that's a word the SWISS seem to forget.

Re: Orange CH name change - 23.04.2015

I've had orange for a while, and am out of contract now and also need a new phone (mine doesn't work as an actual telephone anymore), so I'm trying to decide if I should stay with Salt, or switch.

I still can't get into my online account. I made a new account and it still won't let me on. The lady in the store yesterday said that it's because I still have an old plan...well, yes, I'm not going to get a new plan because you switched your name.

They are certainly lacking in the service and organization department but the plans are still decent.

Did many of you switch with the change? To where? I don't know if it's better to stay with the troubles I know or risk it with a new provider!
