| | Dual Sim Android phone question
Hi, I would like to buy a dual sim Android phone for my Swisscom and Orange (french) contracts. Can anyone suggest a Dual SIM phone on the Android OS that they are happy with?

I was recently in a similar position - actually ended up buying a Windows phone - but the Android dual SIM that I almost got, was a Motorola Moto G, which seemed to offer good spec for money (I refuse to pay much more than 200 for a phone).

The internal memory is far too small. (Well, it's an old model, and with a small display.)
French brand Wiko and Swiss brand SWITEL have quite a wide range of dual SIM phones with Android OS that look interesting, e.g. Wiko Darkmoon. SWITEL phones can be found in Interdiscount and MediaMarkt stores.

I have an LG G3 and can't complain. G4 is probably even better

I would recommend Moto G 3rd Gen.
At the moment don't buy any android phone with less than 1Gb RAM, 8Gb ROM, Quad Core, Lollipop. Otherwise you will need to upgrade in less than 1 year | This user would like to thank simple_person for this useful post:

I guess 8GB storage is OK if you don't use very much (I'm on 8gb myself), but I'd say 2GB RAM is a minimum to get decent performance.
The new 3 Gen Moto G has a higher spec version with 2gig RAM and 16GB storage.

What's worth noting is that the new Moto G comes with Android 5.1.1 which includes improvements for Dual Sim phones.

i am still using the nexus 5 and would happily buy a mildly upgraded version of it. i'm fed up of the new "giant" flagships and would like one in a more pocketable size. i might be pushed into using the less performant moto g just to be able to have a phone <=5" size.

The screen size is the same (unless you're talking about the 1st gen Moto G), just 720p instead of 1080p.
Let me know if you no longer need your Nexus 5 though | This user would like to thank native for this useful post:

you're spoilt for choice...
I've had a couple of dual-sim, 'no name' phones from chinese sites all without any trouble.
Start with http://www.gsmarena.com/
Then just search around for sellers (I just found http://www.oppomart.com/ which looks ok)

Not a dual SIM phone, but I recently got a Magic SIM Adaptor for an old iPhone 4, and I'm reasonably happy with it. Might be a cheap, temporary alternative. They have them for a variety of models, not only iPhone.
I ordered mine here, but it ultimately came form the UK

I´m using an >>Acer Liquid E700<<.
Reasonably happy with it - however, the camera REALLY sucks!
It's triple SIM, so allows for lots of tricks without having to constantly swap SIMs.

At the moment, Interdiscount has lower prices on some Dual SIM phones:
- SWITEL S4500D Rock (4.5") for CHF 79.- (instead of 129.-)
- SWITEL S57D Samba (5.0") for CHF 129.- (instead of 149.-)
- Huawei Ascend G730 (5.5") for CHF 149.- (instead of 179.-)
(Offers valid 24 August until 27 September 2015 or while stocks lasts)

As some others have suggested, I would also go for the 3rd generation Dual SIM Moto G.
In addition to a reputable brand, good quality and good specs, one of the main things I think is quite important is software support.
None of the SWITELs, the Huawei Ascend or the Samsung Core II have been updated to even Lollipop, an OS that is nearly one year old. This will leave open security holes. Motorola has, however, a much better track record and has kept it's older phones updated, improving the user experience and patching security holes.
Additionally, the specs of the Moto G are better than the others written at the beginning of this paragraph - the 2GB of RAM perhaps being a major factor there. Personally I also feel like the design of the Moto G is better. It is also the newest, and is most likely not going to be more than appx. 50-100CHF more expensive.
While it's not on sale yet, I think it's worth the wait. However, if you need one as soon as possible, I would go for the second gen Moto G.
There are other choices such as the LG G4 Dual-Sim Version and the new OnePlus Two, but as far as I know the dual-sim version of the G4 isn't available in Switzerland, and the OnePlus Two has an invite system, where you can only buy the phone once you get an invite, either through another person or, more commonly, through signing up on a waitlist on the website. It will probably take months to get the OnePlus Two since it is a new phone and the waitlist is long.

I only swear by dual-sim phones. Very practical for travel.
I've used the Galaxy S4 mini dual SIM (I9192), for more than 1 year (bought on net, as Switzerland does not import them). Does everything and got regular Android updates.
I now have a Galaxy S5 DUOS (G900FD) bought on eglobalcentral since March this year; Work well easy to switch between SIM.
If you are interested in the premium segment; eglobalcentral has the S6 in dual-SIM also.
PM me if you are interested in the S4 mini. I still have it lying around.
