Swisscom TV 2.0: the big update

Swisscom is announcing quite an interesting new set of features:

- US TV series available immediately after release
- Teleclubplay + canalplay: this is like Netflix but with much more quality content if it includes Canalplay. Very interesting for french speakers.
- Gaming function
- UHD TV box

Just got this email myself. I wonder if they replace the existing TV-box free of charge?

It's always worth negotiating with them. I never paid the 99CHF activation fee for TV2.0 because I insisted. Usually it's better to call and negotiate than dealing with the sales guys in the swisscom shops.

Teleclub Play already existed in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. Did anyone here try it?

I imagine all but the UHD will be available as a software install, rather than requiring a new box. Didn't notice any difference on mine yesterday, but then I haven't seen this email either, so maybe it's implementing in some areas before others.

Can you record remotely on Swisscom tv, i.e. from a tv guide on your phone app?

Yes, that's quite useful. And it records on the home box as well as on your virtual tv, as it were, allowing it to be viewed from the remote device as well, although only for 30 days.

What I do find annoying, though, is that many of the channels available on the 24 hour replay on the TV box don't allow the same functionality from a remote device. Not quite sure why.
