Got one today.
Its big.
Watched a little bit of Behind Enemy Lines and was quite impressed. The screen and picture quality are sharp. The built in speakers are pretty good, considering the size.
So, like the review says, what to do with it? http://www.wsj.com/articles/ipad-pro...ost-1447243200
It will be really nice when watching a movie in bed or chilling in a comfy chair, but its not really a mobile device. Did I mention the size?
No buyer's remorse as this was a gift, but I am going to have to rethink my computing strategy to really get the benefit out of this.
*still need to add the keyboard. Pen? Myeh.

Hi,
I saw them today. The keyboard is very good but the price is absurd, CHF 899 for the lowest end model without a keyboard or the stylus !! Add the keyboard and you are over 1000 CHF. You can get a very good laptop including a Mac book air for around that price. The surface looks much better value and can do more and you get the pen with the device and so you just need to add a keyboard if you want a 2 in 1 device.
Did you buy it to replace a laptop ? What made you want to buy it ? I am curious
Have fun
Martin

It's priced as a laptop.
The Tagi-Reviewer claimed that MS-Office worked better on it than on his Surface3...
The pen is said to be very good, too - it better had to be, at the price-point it's selling, though.
But it seems to work like you're writing with a real pen on a glas-surface.
No lag.
It's probably great for note-taking.
The 1500CHF (the top-version, with the pencil and the keyboard) paper-notebook replacement ;-)

I still find it amazing that Apple has invented such a fantastic device.
A tablet with a keyboard is a really unique concept that shows that Apple is still the most innovating company.
I'm not going to buy it though. Waiting for something like a tablet with a fixed keyboard and a kind of touch pad instead of a touch screen, and with an enormous screen of 15 or 17 inch.
That would really be cool.

Loads of reviews up on the Macrumors site, and discussions in their forums area.
It seems loads of people are buying them, realising how big and awkward it is, and then wondering what to do with it. Not that it matters, anything bought after 1st November can be returned by 8th January for a full refund.
I'm almost tempted to buy one to take on my holiday for a couple of weeks just to return it. Except it's big and awkward and I wouldn't know what to do with it.

I've been using my 12.2" Samsung tablet for about a year now. With bluetooth keyboard for proper typing or the swipe keying for little stuff like this it's really almost as good as a laptop.
There's just a couple of windows-only apps that I'd really like to ruin on Android, then it would be perfect.
Not sure what are the lifestyles of people that find them too big. Too big for what? Just about the size of an A4 notepad isn't exactly a chore to carry around.
And the screen on this is just faaabulous |

Portable tablet computing begins and ends with an 8 inch screen for me. Any bigger and you're just carrying a laptop without a keyboard and lacking a lot of the functionality IMO.
Also if this really is aimed at the pro user then Apple needs to enable some kind of off screen input/control method, such as a mouse or trackpad. Touch is great for media consumption, but lacks the precision needed to be really productive. A pen (and what a rip-off that is from Apple) is a step in the right direction, but anything that needs to touch the screen ends up obscuring part of the screen making selections and manipulations unnecessarily awkward.
No, despite the iPad Pro performing exceptionally well in benchmarks, it's not a productivity device, no matter how much Apple try to spin it.
I hate to say it, but I agree with Martin - our resident anti-apple guy, in that if productivity is what you require then a Surface Pro is going to be a far better option, despite the fact that it runs Windows.

Hi
I don't think it is priced as a laptop unless you think laptop prices start at over CHF 1000. I suppose that is true if you think the only laptops available are from Apple which always been expensive.
I love that people would buy something just it comes from their favourite company and then wonder what to do with it. I thought normally you require a need and an idea why you need something before you buy it.
Have fun
Martin
P.S Slaphead ---I don't see myself as anti-Apple, if they brought out a product better than the alternatives and worked well with other non Apple devices I would buy it. I have no problem buying their products but experience has burnt me too many times.

I haven't seen the device, but if the pen is really like writing on paper, then it could be useful. I don't think anyone has really come close to having a decent experience for this kind of work (maybe some of the thinkpads with stylus).
If a full A4 page fits, then it could be good for reviewing documents if it is light enough.

| | | | | To reiterate, this was a gift. So now, its time to figure out what to do with it. (or re-gift for XMAS )
In partial agreement with @Slaphead. I do prefer my iPad Air over laptop when on regional A/C or travelling short stay due to the weight and convenience - but anything longer and I start to miss the full functionality of a laptop.

I would be tempted by an iPad Pro, but the price puts me off. I'm still using my iPad 2, which is so slow nowadays to be almost unusable at times, so I've been considering an upgrade. I have a 3-year-old Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook, but when I consider what I mostly use it for - email, web, Office - I could easily replace it (and my iPad) with a larger tablet.

Oh, I think this is going to be very popular with architects and artists. The first iPad was already popular. This looks like a great designing/drafting/sketching tool. And it runs all the Apps I already have.
I also look forward to giving it a try as a navigation tool.
