Fibre 3-in-1 from 1tv.ch ?

Any experience with 1tv.ch ?

I'm looking for a basic package:
- internet 10-30 Mbit/s (I don't need more, but I need it to be stable)
- basic set of TV channels (practicing German with watching news/soap 1-2 times a week)
- basic phone (using it only for incoming calls from school/kindergarten, I don't know why but they all prefer fixed line and ignore cell numbers)

Another option in my are is GGA maur, but they are a bit more expensive and don't have 30 MBit option. I have got few positive replies though.

Re: Fibre 3-in-1 from 1tv.ch ?

I've made a call to them and clarified some questions:
- the socket (OTO) will be installed by electrician from Stadtwerk without a fee. You can't actually tell him where you want the socket to be installed, he will choose the place himself. However as an exception for a separate price you still should be able to negotiate another location if you want to.
- you will get a converter and a cable to convert optical signal to usual network one, WLAN router and I think TV-box with HDMI.
- you can start with their cheapest bandwidth option and then increase if you feel it is not enough for you. They do the change within 2-3 days and you pay % part of the month before the switch on your old plan, and the rest of the month as per new plan.

They offer possibility to test their service with option to cancel it within first 30 days. And they start charging only after three months. I think I will try and keep you posted about my experience.

Re: Fibre 3-in-1 from 1tv.ch ?

So couple of guys from Stadtwerk Winterthur came yesterday to install OTO as promised. It took nearly 4 hours as I was the first one in the building who decided to try FTTH. They re-used one of already existing sockets just next to cablecom's (ooops, upc) 3-in-1 socket. The rest of the time they were drilling holes between floors (outside the apartment).

Then they gave me converter from optic to lan and optical cable, which they inserted in OTO and in the converter.

In a separate package I received wireless router and tv-box from 1tv. Looking forward to try it!

Still no written confirmation from cablecom that my contract is canceled.

Re: Fibre 3-in-1 from 1tv.ch ?

Thanks for your experiences - please keep the updates coming

My experiences so far:
I also switched to 1TV after Cablecom tried (for the third time, this time it´s enough) to force me into a faster package that I don´t need.

Cancellation letter to Cablecom was unanswered for over a week, however when I called they had everything on file, apparently just did not react on it - trying to just ignore it, maybe? Anyways, agent was nice enough and after I´ve made myself clear stopped trying to sell me something I don´t want and processed the cancellation.

In the meantime, 1TV called to schedule the technician to install the fiber port.

Have you heard from 1TV about when the equipment (Router and TV-Box) will arrive? I got the installation date as well as the activation date, but no equipment yet.

Re: Fibre 3-in-1 from 1tv.ch ?

Update: Fibre outlet installed today, techs brought Router (FritzBox - yay!), converter and TV-Box, installation went well, everything except phone (number to be ported from UPC next week) seems to be running nicely, even though agreed-upon activation date is next week.

So far quite happy. Speed tests confirm downstream as advertised (actually slightly above).

Re: Fibre 3-in-1 from 1tv.ch ?

I'm back. Today they activated my OTO and I was able to test their connection when cable plugged directly to my laptop or to my old good Netgear router. For not clear reason the Fritz!box from 1tv is not working as expected, will try their support on coming days.

thaifoodpower, I wonder how did you get their technician as I've got the equipment per post.

So, full-hd video from youtube played without any problem, pages opens visibly faster than via cablecom. Need to sort out the issue with their router and do test TV.

Attached speed test via wi-fi over the Netgear.

Re: Fibre 3-in-1 from 1tv.ch ?

(sorry for the late reply, was on long holidays )

@kkmm: EWZ took the occasion to install fibre outlets in the whole building for all apartments and 1TV just had the tech company that did that bring the equipment and install it. Surprisingly well coordinated work I´d say!

Internet speeds continue to be good, phone is good. Fritzbox is a huge upgrade from UPCs little thingy, had a few issues setting the IP-range so that my NAS would like it but that works now.

One issue: TV-picture quality is quite bad (far from HD). Have tried multiple cables and ports, seems to be an issue of 1TV. I have contacted support yesterday, now waiting for a reply. Also it seems that for the replay, on at least on channel the time-marks are off. Selected a show from a day ago, but had to rewind 15 mins to get to the beginning. Observed that issue only on Canale 5 so far, but will test further.

same here

I actually solved the issue with the Fritz!box myself on the next day. I only needed to read the instructions from the 1tv once again and the mistake I did was clear.

Internet, tv and phone work good. I see the difference between normal and hd channels. However sometimes I can see that the picture is digital by freeze of some parts of the image Other issue is that they do limit languages list on some channels like Euronews - they provide only en+de+fr+it. Cablecom has bigger list including ru, tr and some others. A good motivation for me to stay in german, but my wife seems to be unpleased.

My landlord confirmed that the got an updated invoice from upc. It doesn't include my apartment anymore. So my savings:
upc - 106 CHF = 72 (i+tv+p) + 34 (socket)
-
1tv - 44 CHF (i+tv+p)
----------------------
62 CHF / month

Re: Fibre 3-in-1 from 1tv.ch ?

Aside from the freezes (how frequent and how long are they?), is the TV quality good (HD-good) ? From your speed test, am I correct to assume you have the 10/10 service? I´ve got the 20/20 so bandwidth shouldnt be the issue then.

Yes, I decided to start with 10/10, as it always easy to get higher (they confirmed by phone, they can increase immediately on my request). So far it is enough for me. I have 12+ internet consuming devices at home. Didn't notice any issue.

Actually I had a look at the picture closely yesterday and it's not that good as at upc. I can see blurring where same picture on upc is sharp. For example, by looking at channel name it can be seen very easy. I will try to make pictures from both upc (they didn't seal the socket yet and it keeps working) and 1tv to show what I mean.

Yesterday I didn't have freezes at all.

Re: Fibre 3-in-1 from 1tv.ch ?

Two years later I can say I was and am satisfied with their services. The only point is that 10/10 is not enough for us anymore. Kids got older and want to watch different hd-content as their parents. I switch to Sunrise 100/100 for 29Sfr/month thanks to Qoqa.

The process of termination was quite simple so far: quick call to support, email to them asking for Kundigung by next possible date, then confirmation email with reminder to send them back the hardware. That's it. Zero stupid questions wasting my time.

this new offer from Sunrise seems unbeatable

And if I see it right they don't have RussiaToday. RT. Have the gringos got to Sunrise also?

It depends on your needs. I'm happy with my Plus Start from Salt for 9.90 a months. 1.5GB of 4G, unlimited calls within Salt and 30 mins to other nets. Keeping in mind I'm spending most of the time in the office/home office where wi-fi is available.

RT is out of my insterests. If I want to listen russian I go online to euronews or 1tv.ru or buy a package from kartina.

Yes the Sunrise data package is miserable. 7.50CHF for only 250 MB!
