Is anyone using Aldi Mobile prepaid offer? Any negative experience with their service?
Based what I read on their website, I like the fact that even if we don't recharge the account they will keep our number (there must be at least incoming/outgoing call within 12 months to keep it). Moreover they have large variety of packets that can be activated.

Been using the SMART50 package for about a year now. Love it since it's the cheapest deal in town. Just need to load up by the due date and all outstanding balance (unused minutes or data) will be carried forward. You can always check your balance by keying in "Status" so if you run out, you can top up immediately.
Highly recommend this for the value.

I use prepaid since I rarely use the phone and don't need much data. I had Aldi prepaid for a while when I first moved here and had no complaints.
I switched because my OH was on a "regular" monthly plan with a different provider. By switching to the prepaid version of that provider, I don't use my minutes when I call him - only when I call phones not on the same network or when I send a text. So my money goes further.
I don't know if Aldi lets you call other Aldi customers for free. Might be worth checking and comparing to the plan(s) of the person(s) you call most.

You have to buy bundles or "Options" - SMART50 or SMS 50..etc..- if you could use them then the deal will be good and put the whole family on Aldi, the calls will be free in between them.

I have Aldi Mobile since 2013, I think. Since the initial 30 chf, I charged 50 chf in the last 2 years. I call mostly Aldi numbers, which is for free.
Network is the same as Sunrise, so it's as good/bad as that one. There are bad reception pockets here and there.
For my needs, it's perfect.

My teenage daughter uses one SMART 50 + one or two SMS 50 and it is nicer for me than to be stuck with "god knows who" operator

I have a relative here who claims the German Aldi talk mobile package is the cheapest. I get a headache when I try to compare but anyway here is the link. https://www.alditalk.de/telefonieren...-paket_150.php
They have an optional package e5 for EU (inkl.CH) which gives you 150 minutes free for 7 days, somebody smarter than me needs to analyse this |

Often it's cheaper for me to use my UK phone in Switzerland than it is the Swiss one. Was recently in Austria and there you can get a 30day 5GB data SIM for €9.99 !
BTW I use COOP mobile which is Orange/Salt and free to call other COOP/Salt numbers. I don't use any packages but top-up as needed. You can get an annual data package for 99CHF but I don't think the volume is very high.

I've had great reception with Aldi and it's the cheapest I've been able to find. Really can't complain about anything as far as phone/data service goes!
Customer service is terrible though. I once had a problem with unrecognized SMS being charged and tried to contact customer service and they never responded.
I ended up figuring out it was an app I downloaded from the Android market so I fixed it. However, if you have issues, plan on fixing problems being a DIY project.

I have been using it without any packs for the whole family.
Network coverage is quite good - except that it 'drops' inside the ALDI store where i bought it !! |

We use Aldi Mobile for visiting friends and family. I think the options system got better now that they automatically renew the option provided sufficient funds are available -- it was a bit of a pain to explain to the grandma that she needs to let me know when she gets an SMS from Aldi that the package is used up or approaching expiration date
Keep in mind that their customer service is just what one would expect from a discounter -- slow and rude -- I had an issue with the mobile app that decided to book the same option twice for some reason, I contacted them about it and the response was that there is no way to cancel AND that the behavior I described is "technically impossible" so I must have pressed the button twice within a few seconds... |
