Am I the only one? It was working fine a couple of weeks ago, but alas, no Call the Midwife or other programmes now.

Any news on VPNs addressing this situation? If not, I'm cancelling my subscription. It is the only reason I have it...I live in a blackhole and cannot have cable tv so it is my only outlet to tv programmes.

there is a whole thread on this. Netflix and the BBC are starting to block vpn's and smartdns services. It was in the news back in January. It does not affect all vpn and smart dns services.

It is pain as I like to watch non linear tv, however, BBC is available through cablecom, swisscom and sunrise. You will just have to remember to record things rather than relying on iplayer.

I emailed my vpn service and they gave me instructions on how to get around it for netflix.

just double checked and we're still fine - posted some input / work arounds several times (free) a while ago - if you didn't read it well - the search function might help

My "media thingy" extension for chrome has finally stopped working on iplayer too. I have satellite but otherwise use filmon.tv when I have to, in SD though.

I use Unlocator which works really well still, it better continue to do so as I have a years subscription.

Netflix wasn't working on my kids apple TV this morning, I had no time to look properly but it was setup with specific DNS to get the USA netflix.


So we'll see when i go home tonight.

since 2 weeks, I lost Netflix (using unblock-us) and as of this evening even ABC seems to detect that I am outside the US

Swiss Netflix was Ok for the first month, then...nothing new, until recently Better Call Saul Season 2 appeared, so now one programme per week for my subscription is all I get.

We are thinking on getting Netflix, but I am not sure whether the content of Swiss Netflix is for us or not. Are the programs in English or German?

But yeah, most of the Swiss netflix is German.. Most of the big movies are not there. most of the big UK/USA series are either not there or not complete.

You can sign up for VPN/DNS service to spoof your location but I'd do that on a month to month basis because they are clamping down.

Unlocator still works. They are changing services frequently. I had to do a bit more work to set up things again, but netflix US is working fine on my PS3 and iPad at home.

I use Overplay SmartDNS and even when I set the Netflix region to Switzerland, or switch it off just for Netflix via their tool, it still says I'm using a proxy and won't work. Very annoying.

Overplay has a tool that allows you to switch to automatically default to different regions for different services (Amazon, BBC, SKY, and usually Netflix for example) so I'm reluctant to completely disable it just for Netflix.

Since using file sharing is OK in Switzerland (?) you could check kickass (kat.cr) for popular programmes. I'm told that you can even find the last episode of the Night Manager, which has not even shown in the UK yet. Unfortunately, we can't use it ourselves as we live in France .
