My review of fibre in Lausanne (Saitis.net / wingo.ch)

So my building got connected to fibre end of February 2016 and I weighed my options:

- stick with Citycable and pay through the nose to go from 300/20Mbps (80CHF) to 1000/50Mbps (extra 20CHF) or to symetrical 1Gbps for another 15CHF a month, so a total of 115CHF a month. And that's before you throw in tv stuff. Free installation of OTO box.

- go for the wingo offer of symetrical 250Mbps at 75CHF/month. Free installation of OTO box.

- or since I live in Lausanne, go for Saitis.net, a tiny local ISP run by some ubergeeks I used to know back in the day. They offer 1Gbps symetrical for 1000CHF/year or 269CHF/trimester. Which is incredibly cheap! And you get a fixed IP with reverse DNS delegation (important for IRC bragging) and IPV6. This is available only in Lausanne.

I ordered saitis.net in mid April and the technician came to my place on the 1st of June (the date I'd chosen for installation) and took about 4 hours to do the cabling and fit the OTO box. Cost: 155 CHF. It's best effort but it works. You need the Fiber7 kit, same as with init7 in Zurich.

But the connection didn't work as I wasn't getting the DHCP lease. Contacted support and 2 days later (this is a really small op) they checked at the Telco Datacenter and the technician had connected me to VTX instead of Saitis. Once that was fixed I got the a working connexion and speed is pretty damn good. I still have the Citycable connection+tv box and will decide if that goes down to 2Mbps with TV or just get the cable connection completely cancelled.

Feel free to ask questions!
