Anyone here using a smart lock here?
I like the one by August, but as far as I know, it is not available here and doesn't fit Swiss doors? http://august.com/products/august-smart-lock/ |

"Sorry honey, I can't get the tickets to that concert which are in my flat, the batteries on my lock died!"
On a tangent, I have an imaginary friend who set up everything in his life to be controlled by his iphone. TV, lights, locks, car, apple pay, etc.
Then he lost his phone.
But those locks do look slick |

The August smart lock only replaces the lock on the inside, you can still use your key on the outside if you want. That's why I think it is such a good solution.

I would suggest first googling "August smart lock hack". August was apparently quite fast to patch the code, but still.

I would suggest that since the product does not seem to be usable here, it is of little consequence. Seems like Smart Locks are very rare here.

Probably good, probably not cheap.

I'm no door expert, but it's what I heard, that it is not compatible with uk and swiss "standard" doors. http://support.august.com/customer/p...ity?b_id=10917 |

I'm sure it could be done. Anything can be done with enough dedication.

I'm sure it could, but it sounds like quite a fuss.
I spent a lot of energy getting my Nest Thermostat installed, which is also not officially supported here.

Resurrecting this old thread, to see if anyone is currently using a smart lock in Switzerland?
I know the Nuki smart lock works here but it isn't suitable for my door.
Has anyone used any of the others successfully?
TIA

I bought this U-Bolt Pro when it was on indiegogo. The company is not a startup by any means -- they just used indiegogo to generate pre-sales. You would need to import it yourself, from the US.
It's a superb lock, works beautifully. Check out the specifications. There are so many ways to operate it -- fingerprint, PIN, smartphone app, Bluetooth proximity, wifi proximity, shaking your phone... oh, and key. It autolocks if you want it to. Excellent app... allowance for use if the batteries go dead... everything has been thought of. And it's keenly priced at under USD 200.

Thank you that actually looks very good. My only concern is how difficult it is to fit.
Are the instructions good. will it fit any lock?
TIA

TIA | | | | | I suggest you email the company with details (measurements) and photos of your door. That's what I did, and they replied very promptly with all the information I needed.
The instructions are very good. There are also multiple videos to help.

What about the insurance(s) in the case of a home invasion?

By "home invasion", do you mean burglary? Actual home invasions, where intruders enter your home with violent intent, are vanishingly rare here.
How many burglaries are committed by entering through the front door of a home, especially of a house?
