Simple Video editing software

Hi,

I decided to buy a go pro and now I am looking for a recommended easy to use video editing program. I don't use any Apple devices and so the software needs to run on a pc.

I would also be interested if anyone has any recommendations for an image stabiliser for the go pro

Thanks

Martin

To stabilise the image first, put it through YouTube. On a PC there is nothing easier than Movie Maker. Take out the bits you don't want in MM then run it through something like www.magisto.com for something to share online. Obviously these are the basics but I guess it's all you're after for now.

Good luck.

Depending on your windows/office version you may have MS moviemaker already. It's often hidden, i.e. with no shortcut created, so do a search for it. It's half decent for cutting and stitching video, adding voiceovers, basic titles etc. and supports a number of output formats. I'm no expert in this area, but it looks OK to me when I've used it, and may be 'free'.

Re: Simple Video editing software

Hi,

thanks for the suggestion. I am using Windows 10 Anniversary release. Movie Maker does not come with Windows 10 but you can still download it and it runs.

I am trying out now and it looks just the kind of thing I am looking for.

Thanks again
Martin

I have tried other apps, paid and free but for an "offline" app +1 for Windows Movie Maker. It's part of the Windows Essentials 2012 but is great, simple and just works with no bloat. Maybe one day MS will update it, but for now nothing else needed. I'm still learning and things like cutting, transitions, and titles are all so easy. Enjoy!

Re: Simple Video editing software

Movie Maker is great as is Photo Gallery from Essentials 2012 and I still use it (Windows 10 Insider) but it won’t be updated. MS is focusing on the Photos app which is also improving greatly and includes video trimming and can make photo still from videos.
Yes Photos works offline and is free too

Re: Simple Video editing software

If you want something with a bit more in the way of features, I've used Cyberlink Powerdirector to put together the DVDs for the Basel Pantos for several years. When I found an admittedly very obscure bug, they fixed it in the next release - and gave me a free upgrade, which was nice.

Re: Simple Video editing software

I really like MAGIX Video Delux to edit my Sony Action Cam shots (<-Way better then the go pro in my opinion ;-)

http://www.magix.com/de/movie-edit-pro/?

Easy to use, at least for me, and a lot of options if you get into it

If you like to see some examples, send me a PM

I'm also a fan of the Magix software. Straight-forward to use, but with quite a lot of sophistication if you want to get into it.

Re: Simple Video editing software

Movie Maker didn't allow me to do to all what I wanted.

I use VideoPad Professional.

It's really easy to use and has multiple audio and video tracks (which the last version of Movie Maker didn't have).

It's free for a bit and then only about 40 Euros (there are cheaper options) but I think I paid less than 40 Euros a couple of years ago.

5/5

Re: Simple Video editing software

My husband has been using the go pro software to do his movie (first one), and has found it a bit frustrating. Can't wait to give him these suggestions. Thanks
