I couldn't find any way to change commentary to English on any of the games I watched over the weekend. I don't think DAZN has that feature.

I also tried and the commentaries were only in German

Another stupid question - If I don't want any extra hardware, is there any online subscription for Sky DE (or UK for that matter, I guess) that I could use?

I have Salt and they offer the option to subscribe to Sky Sport for 19.90 per month.

https://fiber.salt.ch/en/sky-package-en/

And it looks like there are several options that don't require hardware, e.g. Smart TV

Thanks, my Salt Fiber / TV sub starts in April. Out of interest, when logging in via your Apple TV, did you just use the fiber.salt.ch login, or do you get a different set of credentials nearer the time?

You need an Apple ID account to be able to download the Salt TV app. Once installed, you log in with the Salt credentials

I suspect although I have my login details, they will only become active once my subscription officially starts - no cheeky free TV for me!

Re: DAZN - Sports Streaming

Well I've cancelled my DAZN and will open a Sky account. I know I said I would never subscribe to Sky but.... For 19.99 CHF/month they are now offering Internet subscription based access, like DAZN; pay monthly, no commitment, independent of the ISP (Swisscom, Salt, etc).

They will also show the large majority of the EPL games live, about 3/4 I think.

It's basically a no-brainer for me. I would have stuck with DAZN as I had used them since they had the rights to the EPL - but that's history now.

Any idea if you can choose English comms on the games? I am also ideologically opposed to paying for Sky, but hey, they've ed the world as badly as they can now, it can't get worse...right?!

Yeah for me it was always about their price point. Years back it was the equivalent of the GDP of a small nation. Now it's 20 CHF/month with no-commitment.

Their EPL commentary is only in German apparently, but there is an option to turn off the commentary (see screenshot) and hear the roar of the stadium - which is pretty cool.

Oh well, that's good I guess - without English commentary it isn't nearly tempting enough to make consider my boycott position

Will find out soon when the season starts, but you have the option to choose English commentary for the golf. Hope they can do the same for the football.

So, the season started. Does Sky offer the English track for commentary or just German?

Re: DAZN - Sports Streaming

Just discovered that sky.ch is now showing EPL games with English commentary.

I rejoiced for a few minutes, until I discovered that it is actually… uh.. American.

Is it really American? Still better than nothing. Considering it is played in the UK you'd have thought an English channel wouldn't have been that hard to implement.

Jim Beglin and all. I imagine there's probably a licensing issue with the UK commentators. I often just watch it in German as they seem to have a more neutral, fact based take on things.

Also they don't mind mentioning what a travesty PL refereeing is.
