Re: 3 reasons why you should avoid UPC Cablecom

So really my advice to those who want really fast internet is to go for a 300 - 500 Mb/s package, otherwise you may find yourself paying for bandwidth that you can't actually use, plus you can always upgrade to a Gigabit connection at any time (if your ISP offers it in your location)
Good advice. Even 300-500 is a lot. I don't think I will pay for more than the 100/100 which I'm currently paying for, at least not for the next 2-3 years.

Re: 3 reasons why you should avoid UPC Cablecom

Cablecom costumer service has been really helpful and friendly, which is rare in this country. And they are much cheaper than Swisscom for the package we need (no tv). Speed has been as expected, though we had a few hiccups when we moved (the new router they sent was defect x2).

Our only complain, which got us both really angry, was when they made the last upgrade. We started with a 15 Mb contract. It was increased for free through the years, though not by our request. When cablecom was bought and became UPC, they sent us a letter congratulating us for our upgrade to 100Mb (something about standardising the network), and that it was only gonna cost us 10chf extra per month. We got pissed because it was a favour by shotgun: either you start paying 10chuffs extra, or you are welcome to move to the competition. There was no option to keep the current contract which we were quite happy with.

We stayed because they are still cheaper, and other than that single episode, it has been a very positive experience.

Re: 3 reasons why you should avoid UPC Cablecom

A while back I wrote a python script to take the speed test of my connection every few minutes then I plotted it and most of the time I had close to what I as promised except the time I used internet at home which was around 17 to 19
