Rubbish, think of the P-26 stories and the files held on people snitched on by their neighbours

I had a very funny dream last night about a crazy girl that I met in the "gemeinde". She is called Serafina and asked me gently to come home to check the TV-socket so I had to accept. But she had an obscure interest, because right after stepping in my flat she got naked and showed me her huge tool ........... then I was woke up sweating... Shit.
Don't trust in Serafinas, please... They are more than dangerous. | This user would like to thank Jonesy for this useful post:

Switzerland is a small country and as a requirement of the contract they will have to follow up on those who do not pay very simple in this country | Quote: | | | | | Precisely, as they will have to employ new staff to do this, plus it is only for 5 years, so I'm sure anyone who previously exempted themselves from Billag can do the same with Serafe until 31.12.23 and not worry too much.

Hi folks
On our invoice it is written, jointly and severally liable with 2 of our neighbours names
Does it mean that I have to pay the full amount of my invoice or is it shared between the neighbours ?
Or it only means that if I dont pay they will go after my neighbours ?
But why my poor neighbours ?
Thanks

Kavita | | | | | If you live in premises separate from your neighbours (as is usual!), it's most probably a cock-up, probably by your local Gemeinde/commune from whom Serafe get their billing information. The best course of action is to call Serafe and give them the correct details. You will then receive your own invoice.

Mark the names and write "Nachbarn" (neighbours) on the bill, return the bill to Serafe (keep a copy of what you're sending).
As you no longer will have a bill they will solve the problem at an impressive speed | This user would like to thank curley for this useful post:

| | Bill in mail for "Radio and Television Fee"?
Can anyone tell me what this is? We got a bill for $365 for what looks like a ~3 month period and I'm wondering what the heck this is for? This isn't a basic television and internet service charge, right? We get our tv/internet through a different vendor and this appears to be coming from "Serafe".
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Serafe is the collection agency for Switzerland’s radio and television fee.
Also the bill is in chf, and it is 365,- chf for a whole year.

| | Re: Bill in mail for "Radio and Television Fee"?
Thanks for your reply. You are correct in that it does appear to be for 1 calendar year and not 3 months as I originally thought.
So this is basically a standard fee that would normally be included in a cable bill or something similar in the States as an added tax on a monthly basis but Switzerland demands we pay it all up front as opposed to being tacked onto another bill?
Also, when you say "collection agency", does that imply some sort of "collections" or delinquency on our part? This is the first I've seen of this bill.
Thanks.

No, you're not in arrears, not in any trouble. Serafe collects the TV and radio fee on behalf of the government. It's just a licence fee, as they have in the UK, for example, and in many other countries. Here it's out in the open and visible, that's all.
Before anyone tells you that you really should search the forum before asking questions that have been answered over and over again... you really should search the forum before asking questions. All you never wanted to know about Serafe. (I've merged your thread into that monster Serafe thread, now.)

Just a quick question, I recently moved into my new place and got the lovely serafe bill
It did say on it however that I can pay quarterly instead of the entire 365.-Fr in one go, and I emailed them (twice!) to see how to activate that option with no reply..
I just found on the website a little hover over message that pops up to say something like use the QR code to update the payment method and interval ( https://www.serafe.ch/en/the-fee/invoicing/ hover over the QR code section to read)
Where can I possibly login into my account?? If I scan this QR code will it re-direct me to some page that details my account? I am so confused..
