So I've recently discovered that I will have to buy a new TV once I arrive in Switzerland.

Will my son be able to bring his XBOX with him or will he also need to purchase a new console? Is is safe to use the outlet adapters with his existing North American console? Thanks!!!!

You will need a voltage adapter rather than just a socket adapter, as xbox power supplies only have a single input voltage range, or at least my 360 power supply is like that. You may be able to buy a european power supply online at ebay or ricardo.

Also be aware that xbox games are region coded so you will have to import new games from the US rather than buy them here.

Re the power supply you can either buy a European PSU or use a transformer to convert from to 220 from 110. Your original PSU is single-volt, one of the many, many hardware hiccups of the Xbox.
Re games, you can actually play all your games, just keep the region US as it is now. I have my region set to the UK and I buy content from the UK shop ever since I got it.

Do you know the exact model of the XBox as that changes the answer regarding voltage converters.

We brought ours over as well and Microsoft CS was awesome- we gave them the serial number and model, they checked it, and mailed us a new power supply free of charge. As a previous poster mentioned, we kept the region settings to the US and use our Xbox live account that was as well. Good luck!

This totally depends. The OP didn’t mention which xbox her son has. I can personally confirm that the xbox one is region free. I have played games on there that I have bought in the US and Europe and have had no problem.

Yes like above said call CS and get the 220v power suply from Microsoft and you'll be able to enjoy the Xbox One in CH, you'll probably need an additional 3 prong adapter to be able to plug it into a CH outlet.

I used a converter, and it worked just fine. But for some reason, I do not feel 100% comfortable keeping it plugged in if I am not using it for fear of an electrical problem/fire. I have no reason to support that, just my weird eccentricity! But games bought here in EU will not work on a USA console.
