Power Backup Battery Question

I've recently bought a Nest Smoke/CO alarm. I also have some IP security cameras. You get notifications on your phone if there is a fire or movement but I think this is only possible if there is power either for the WIFI router and the cameras. If the robber has mad skillz and cuts the power, neither of these security items will work.

I thought a way around this is to have the router and cameras plugged into a battery ..

I like the idea of a solar powered battery so I can use it for some other things in case the power goes out for other reasons, like say the apocalypse.. There seem to be more battery options available like this in the US, but then they are closer to Trump than we are.

I am also looking for it to be lithium so it is lighter than the traditional deep cycle batteries and therefore more portable.

I came across a couple on amazon.co.uk.

Goal Zero has come up with a new and pretty expensive Lithium range

A Chinese brand mindtech make is also available

I'm not sure how the goal zero one is made but the mindtech one is made of
"Battery : 42pcs 3.7v 2500mAh Li-ion battery , Total 388wh"

Which is basically 42 round batteries joined together in series or parallel or whatever isn't it?

Does anyone have any idea if this method is any good? If you look on youtube you can buy these batteries and make your own battery bank.

Re: Power Backup Battery Question

You wouldn't have these worries if you lived in Switzerland.

There is a lesson in there somewhere for you!

Re: Power Backup Battery Question

if someone is so dead set on breaking into your house that they cut the power then I think you have way bigger issues then UPS / batteries! what if they cut your phone line too?

If you are *REALLY* that worried just buy and alarm with a mobile phone option, alarm goes off (which is all battery backed up) and the mobile in the alarm calls / texts you.

eg

* eta - of course if they have a mobile phone jammer you're screwed
