Wingo (owned by Swisscom) looks a good deal:

25chf/month

-Unlimited calls
-1 gb/data
-5chf per additional gb BUT your bill will never be more than a total of 55chf/month

Yep, changed to that. Good deal, works perfectly (even in the sticks ) as it's Swisscom net.

Re: Wingo mobile

WinGo is a very good deal, and since it is operated by Swisscom, you should probably get service in their shops if needed (I can't confirm, just guessing, as they had helped me with my M-Budget abo a while back)

i'm not impressed by Wingo at all.
with Salt you get unlimited calls, unlimited internet, 60 mins EU/US and 200 Mb/month roaming data for 29.50. that's way better.

The quality of Salt is going downhill badly the last few years, all they can do to keep customers is price-dump.

Moved to Salt Mobile at the start of the year from Swisscom where I was paying CHF99 pcm. I now save CHF40 every month plus get unlimited EU/US calls and 1gb roaming data each month which I never had before.

So far I have to say my experience of the service from SALT has been excellent so I can't fault them as yet! As an aside now they're no longer paying the ridiculous brand & licensing fees that Orange charge they can now spend it on providing some real competition in the market.

I asked Swisscom if they could try and match it (as a loyal customer with 5 years contract and they couldn't give a monkey's at trying to keep me). Why anyone sticks with Swisscom is beyond me but each to their own....

Swisscom offers the best coverage in the mountains. Honestly, there's been very few times where I have been without network for a significant period of time (although there a holes, especially in the border area between Uri, Graubünden and Ticino). I have never been in a situation where I haven't been able to send a sign of life to whoever is waiting for me at home within a 24 hours window.

As a solo hiker that's worth the extra cost for me, but I understand that not everyone needs the same reliability.

I might test Wingo next year when my present subscription expires. But only if the coverage is as good.

Salt also has/had recently a CHF20, two-year plan for unlimited calls and SMS in Switzerland and 3GB of data (IIRC it was called Plus Basic with a discount).

Because they have the best network in terms of coverage and they are reliable. I changed to Salt and then changed back to Swisscom, too many missed calls, no network coverage type things.

Re: Wingo mobile

Hmmmm... perhaps I'll give Wingo a try, thanks for the suggestion!

My wife has Swisscom and I have Salt, and we definitely can tell the difference in coverage between the two. There have been plenty of times traveling while on the road where she has had internet and I've not been able to get any, especially during the commute on the S-Bahn from our home to Zurich and in the short tunnels. I'd switch from Salt if it weren't for the unlimited calls to the US.

Re: Wingo mobile

Thanks for the tip, been looking for a new contract as will be moving back in September sounds like a good deal sunrise and yallo have similar offers but the coverage is not so good from previous experience so I might give wingo a try. Also you get 40chf signing on fee free if you sign up before 29th August.

Yep, that's why I changed from (then) Orange to Swisscom. But Wingo has the same ne - as a daughter of Swisscom - but a much better price if you mainly use your phone in Switzerland.

Re: Wingo mobile

I'd like to switch from Swisscom to Wingo as well. Just curious what the proper process for changing provider is.

I've read the FAQ from Wingo and cant say for sure what to make of it, but it appears by choosing to keep the old number that the new provider will cancel the old one automatically. Is this right?

https://www.wingo.ch/de/help/article/view/10000216
https://www.wingo.ch/de/help/article/view/10000227

assumptions:
I want to carry over my old number.
I don't want to pay both providers for the same period.
Swisscom has 2 months cancellation period.

Thanks

Re: Wingo mobile

Wingo looks interesting but I'm not sure it's that much a better deal than M-Budget One. In particular Maxi One is is only 5chf more expensive but comes with 2Gb already and plenty of minutes to be pretty much the same. I'm saying it because I see that the Wingo tarifs for foreign calls and roaming are really much higher than M-budget, so if you ever call abroad or find yourself on the wrong side of the border you'll quickly lose any advantage...
