| Hi
Anyone know a good callback service/other way to call cheaply to the uk? I have a UK T-mobile phone which is 55p a minute!! and will be buying a swiss phone today.
I am aware of landline/skype etc but for convenience looking for a mobile solution- is there any services which call you back etc?
Many Thanks | |

Hi Ashtraxx,
Not sure if I can recommend, but I use the following setup to call UK and India.
1. Pay Monthly phone from Swisscom on Natel Pro Liberty tariff(CHF 49 pm) with call charged at 30 cents for upto an hour to a landline.
2. Use an account service with DialNow(OR you could use any calling card), which costs 0.5 euro cents for 1 min to UK landlines and 8 cents for UK Mobiles.
3. So the total cost for a 30 min call would be..
(a) UK landline =
.30 CHF (charge for swisscom)
+ .30 CHF (.01 rate x 30 mins for the call to UK using the provider)
= .60 CHF
(b) UK Mobile =
.30 CHF (charge for swisscom)
+4.80 CHF (.16 rate x 30 mins for the call to UK using the provider)
=5.10 CHF
Please bear in the mind you could be on a pay as you go on swisscom that charges .80 CHF for upto an hour and can also use a calling card with similar rates or a diff provider. I do not work for or in any way associated with dialnow. It was recommened by a friend and have been using it for the last 4/5 months.
You can "register" the mobile with the provider and then don't need to enter your PIN everytime and also the UK phone numbers can be saved with the proivder telephone number preceding the actual number to be called followed by p(for pause) and trailled by a #. So its all 1 number to call. eg.
Actual Number = 00 44 208 123 4567
New Number = 0435269999p00442081234567#
(Note the provider number can be of provider you are using or the callingf card).
As an option, if you were on O2(or have another SIM from O2), you have MyEuropeExtra added, cost GBP 10 a months and gives free incoming calls whilst in Europe, including Switzerland and costs 25p to call UK(and also other European countries, Switzerland included, I think).
