I'm not ready for Siri yet.. are you?

A lazy sunday morning thread,

I never seem to press the iPhone button hard enough to exit an app and pretty regularly end up pressing it just enough to get to Siri, but I have nothing to say to Siri... or ask Siri.. nor do I have any demands This might be something to do with the introvert in me as I'm not really a technophobe..

So a little question for you hip technophiles, what do you guys and gals use Siri for?

Re: I'm not ready for Siri yet.. are you?

"Siri, you are stupid!"
"Now, now!"

"Siri, are you a girl or a boy?"
"Animals in French have gender, I do not."

And for some reason, it thinks the first contact name in the phone list is "my name". I don't use the Siri function.

when I stumble in at 2am, half conscious, but know that I need to attend that meeting at 9am, but couldn't trust my fingers... "Siri, wake me up at 8am!"

Siri: How can I help you?

Me: Bugger off!

Siri: What did I do to deserve that?

End of conversation ...

I don't use MAC stuff. I use Amazon Alexa.

What do I use it for:

Shopping Lists (add stuff by voice while cooking)
Timers for cooking.
Converting weights weights etc
Radio ("Play BBC radio 4", for example")
Listening to music.
Opening shutters
Checking whether windows have been left open
Turning on lamps
Quick facts.
My kids play quizzes on it.
and a few more things.

I'd use Siri for setting timers while cooking, alarms, making notes, checking the weather and checking the calendar on a whim.

And this is me, still living in the last millennium:
I write my shopping lists on a squared paper pad from Wilkos
I have an old cooking timer and just wind to the time required
I have a magnet on the fridge that gives me all the cooking convertions
I turn the radio on for BBC4
I lean forward to open manually my shutters
I get up and shut the windows if it's raining
I use a light switch
I read a fact but, to be honest, I also use the internet.
My kids play board games when we are all en famille.
We go out.

Gosh, which planet am I from? How have I coped so far? I don't Siri, therefore am I?

Re: I'm not ready for Siri yet.. are you?

I had to faff around a bit to even turn siri on, then i downloaded radio player to get BBC 4 but Siri will only go to radio player not actually turn on radio 4 too.

and if you are bluetooth connected to a speaker, siri won't react at all.. it ignores my pleasant request.. I say please..

is there an easy siri way to listen to radio 4 on your iPhone, free too please?

Re: I'm not ready for Siri yet.. are you?

I use Siri, I use Cortana and i even talk to my television.

"Television on, XBOX, Volume Down" Works perfect. Or "Youtube, puppies" if i need something to distract the baby when i need to go to the toilet.

Some people on whats-app seem to confuse me with Siri: If I don't give the "right" answers, I get disconnected.

Don't worry, I still haven't got round to getting a television yet and we have plenty of time for board games (more in fact!)

I have SIRI on my mac mini, only used once or twice. She takes her own bally time to load and by the time SHE is ready I have already been on u-toobe for ten minutes, have you ever waited for your loved one to get ready to go out, well my version of SIRI will let you waaaaaaait and waaaaaaait and waaaaaaait, And she doesn´t understand German even though my Betriebssystem is German. SOoooooOO, no Siri for Slammer.
