Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

Until now I have had the 3 in one cable connection fron Cablecom although I use Swisscom for TV, internet and phone . I just use the radio connection from Cablecom. So Cablecom rang me yesterday and said " no Cable connection without a subscription". At the moment I pay 36 CHF. I have it for the FM Radio which I like. Now they want 40 CHF for a subscription otherwise they will cut the cable connection. I told them to stuff it up their arse and now I have quit the Cablecom Cable connection completely. So I now save 40 CHF a month. These focking robbers!!!

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

The quality is better with Cablecom radio but not worth paying 36 CHF a month.

Update: I checked what this person was telling me and found nothing like this 40 CHF anywhere. I am thinking he was lying to me!!

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

I have old UPC subscription where cable connection fee is paid through landlord and I wanted to move to new subscription. They told that new subscriptions includes basic connection fee and I should get rent reduced from landlord. But landlord refused to do so

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

Last year they increased this fee from ~33 to ~36. I would not be surprised if they change it to 40 for 2018. Probably he told you internal information

You can listen to the radio then via internet or buy a small DAB radio from the Migros or somewhere with one months cablecom fee.

Speak to Cablecom about it. I think the landlord has to do it.

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

The procedure is unusual, but that doesn't mean it can't be had.
Ask the landlord about the items on your monthly bill. One of them will be Cablecom or similar. Ask him what, exactly this fee covers. Do this in writing, of course. Then say: "Oh, in that case, it is probably not a service I Need. I'll just check with that supplier." Then do the same thing with the supplier.

Once you have it in writing, from both, write to them both, in the same letter, attaching copies of each other's letters, and explaining which part you no longer wish to subcribe to, and that you would like them please to acknowledge your letter, and to please get in touch with each other so that the connection is cancelled.

Here (in German) is the Tenants' Association (Mieter- und Mieterinnenverband) advice about this topic:

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

Here its explained. But I advise you to go to their outlet in Zürich to speak to them. The landlord has to stop billing you in the rent. This fee covers your cable connection. Nothing more. It costs 36 CHF. But the problem with the landlord could be that he has a contract with Cablecom where he might be bound for a year.

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

Yes I have Swisscom radio. But I find it really bad that if you want Cablecom radio only then it will cost 36 CHF a month. It used to be that you could just have radio and pay just for the radio part. But the bastards stopped that. I find internet radio just bad quality.

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

Here its explained well. But only in German

https://www.mieterverband.ch/mv/miet...-internet.html

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

I cancelled my cablecom last year and they told me the socket doesn't need sealing (they used to put a blanking plate over) so I still get TV (and I suppose radio) for free, not that I ever watch it.

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

I was under the impression that they will cut the connection ( they no longer plug it up ) so no TV and no radio.Thats what they said to me. So do you have radio?

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

Dont you need a router/modem for the TV to work? I see from this article that you need a TV with integrated DVB-C receiver or a converter to use TV connection?

Re: Cablecom -no cable connection without subscription

Yes they don't plug the socket. But they wrote to me and said the use of the socket is not allowed. Assuming they can see if one is using it then its possible that suddenly one has a big bill in the mail or a court case around ones neck!
