Why is it not a good phone? But she isnt looking for the newest
Because it's an old and horribly slow phone that she will start to hate after 5 miutes. The battery life will also be abysmal on such an old phone.

If you really are as IT clueless as you sound just buy her the cheapest new iphone (along with theft and damage insurance) and be done with it.

EDIT - 37 years old and a vet? Jesus... even working 60% can't she get a contract with a new phone and theft and loss insurance?

Loves animals and has no common sense? Sounds like a PETA candidate.

Not everyone is in a financial position to have that sort of dispensable spending...

Ive offered it for free and its upto the OP to decide whether they want to keep it or decide if they really need a "better spec" phone.

Ive used the 3GS with whatsapp without any problem. Yes its not the latest and greatest but it gets the job done.

@OP the offer still stands.

I never said she had common sense
I would much prefer that she had a well paid job and didnt spend all her money on other things, but over the years everyone has to do what makes them happy

I know, I was kidding. But seriously, tell her to get the cheapest iphone with insurance and a good data plan.

3-2-1 rule

- 3 copies
- 2 different media types
- 1 off site

In practice
- Local copy on 2nd disk
- Copy on NAS
- Amazon S3 (costs me CHF 5 a month for my offsite)

Google Drives works well enough too for Android if you are technically minded
You keep saying that. Either you've only got a one track mind, or you've lost important data once (at most).

Do tell.

It was of course nice of you to offer but realistically by modern standards the iPhone 3g is a complete dog and will cause more frustration than happiness.

No

Thanks for monitoring my posts though, be sure to remind when I say something more than once. You'll be busy as fack if you apply that to the ad nauseum posters on this site

Easy boy, easy. It wasn't a criticism at all. You're dead right about the 3-2-1 rule. You'd think that people wouldn't still need reminding as often, given how cheap, fast and easy storage is nowadays.

My seminal (and only) file loss experience was an essay which I only had on a floppy as the 10M disc on my PC at home was full. Left it on the table in the computer room when I went to print it out, and it went missing.

Why are you pushing so hard for someone you determine to be 'non-savvy' to go to a completely different platform?

I almost lost a lot of stuff many years ago (pre AWS and clouds) due to my own screw up.

It's part of my day job too.

I even backup Google Authenticator codes, by using an app called Authy which backs up for you and allows sharing across devices. My last phone stopped dead, overnight, and I lost a dozen or 2 codes to AWS, my NAS, and lots of other sites. I almost always use 2FA when possible

Re: Phone broken how to get photos back?

For anyone who, because of their work, travels or preoccupations loses or damages phones repeatedly, I'd recommend: http://fundsachenverkauf.ch/technik/ in Wollishofen, Zurich.

This is the second-hand shop which sells things left lying on the public transport systems, and which no-one claims. (Fund = Found, Sachen = Things).
Naturally, they have a lot of hats, coats, jackets, spectacles, bags and packs, and... phones.

Unlike many second-hand (Brocki) shops, where the risk is all on the buyer, this shop has its own technicians who test the devices, and clear out their old data, etc., so that one is actually buying something more-or-less tested and approved. 7 days cash-back return, too.

Well does the phone have a removable SD card in it? I assume not otherwise you would have mentioned it.

Re: Phone broken how to get photos back?

Or this program should get the photos back. They have a test version otherwise it might cost.
And expensive

https://drfone.wondershare.net/de/

Look for other similar programs ( free )
