I am looking for a cable internet provider in Zurich whose modem would allow me to use dyndns-like services.
Cable is not open access. Thus you have to live with what ever is offered by your cable provider (or move your home). On the other hand DSL over the phoneline or even better FTTH (Fiber) is open access and there are many provideres offering many intersting options.

Big Disappointment so far!
Before I buy any Mobile internet, I thought Switzerland has very fast internet. And the year is 2021! But after I bought a mobile internet subscription from Sunrise (it suppose to up to 300mbit), I get only 3-5 mbit. I live in Winterthur so it is not a rural area. I have 4K tv but hardly watch 1080p. I donít know what to do because it is a 24-month contract.

Your apartment if probably built like a faraday cage, try placing the mobile internet gizmo at the windows, balcony etc. Experiment with different locations.

(really, there is no other way to say you are stupid to not get init7 if you can get init7

I would not call DSL, which is BBCS (https://www.swisscom.ch/en/business/...esse/BBCS.html) "open".

I mean: https://www.swisscom.ch/en/about/new...-internet.html .... and the many other lawsuits over it.

FTTH being open also really depends on the provider, and especially Swisscom likes to play games there.

EWZ did an amazing job there though by making it open.

Re: Internet issues / choices in Switzerland / ADSL vs cable

Had salt fibre when in Geneva which I thought was fast.

Moved to Versoix, Salt not available, now UPC Giganet, honestly seems faster to me.

I don't see why the init7 is better than swisscom or others? On paper at least?

I mean, price is around 65/month vs 90/month but init7 is 1/1 gbit, while swisscom is 10/10.
wingo for 10/10 is 45

What I'm missing out?

Internet speed & quality doesn't just depend on the size of the pipe (bandwidth) on the last mile, but at every link in the chain. Many ISPs oversell bandwidth and/or poorly setup/run their networks.
I have found networks such as salt & upc to have high packet loss in peak times, likely due to the way they manage their networks.

I have never noticed these types of problems on init7, and often when it comes to regular browsing a 100mbit init7 dsl can feel faster than 1gbit fibre on other networks (due to faster ping times/lower ttl). Its like they actually care when you call them up to report that ping times to a certain destination have gone up marginally (by 20ms for eg), but when I called UPC to inform them of 95% packet loss they would simply make excuses and say that because its not a total cut of service, they wont really do anything about it (they went as far as to say that its because I have both ipv4 and ipv6 enabled, and that this isn't possible .... total bs). To top it all off they insist on collecting debt for the 6 months where the internet was effectively unusable.

Init7 is a good choice!
