Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

iCompare appears to have gone the way of the Dodo. Any recommendations on another comparison site for subscriptions.

I know Comparis and Topppreise compare phones, but I'm looking for a comparison of subscription offers.

We are staying with the iPhone because we are Apple fannboyys.

Re: Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

Hi
To be honest it is pretty quick to compare offers. Nowadays the majority offers give you unlimited calls and sums and so the important is the bandwidth available and roaming costs. You also save if you don't get the phone included in the deal. That way you have a lot more flexibility as to model and manufacturer of the phone. There is very little lock in nowadays and it is not too difficult to move from a legacy phone if you think for example the profit margin is too high for a catch phone.

I am very pleased with the Europe plus for 69 chf from Salt. 1gb roaming per month included as well as all calls to and from the rest of Europe

Have fun
Martin

You can compare plans on Comparis... https://en.comparis.ch/telecom/mobile

Re: Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

Is the site down? Would've loved to take a peek, but I get "server not found".

I´m still convinced that pricewise no-one can beat my setup (lemme know if you can) :

First of all I use a dual-SIM phone. Here's why:
  • SIM1:
  • O2 contract in Germany at €9.99/month (3 months minimum, after that it can be cancelled each and every month)
  • This gives 2GB in Germany, of which 1GB can be used outside
  • All calls to Germany included
  • All calls within the country in which the phone is logged into
  • the above refers to EU/EEA/CH, outside of those countries it's much more expensive!
  • SIM2:
  • lycamobile.ch to have a Swiss number
  • allows for free incoming calls in quite a bunch of countries
  • allows for additional data-packages in CH whenever the 1GB from the German SIM is not enough
  • allows for call packages, should you need to call people with a Swiss number, like potential new jobs where foreign numbers looks silly. Also, these packages can be used to call Switzerland from outside of Switzerland if needed.
I can live with the fact that people I call see a German number. It can be circumvented if needed.

Biggest upside: The German card roams in all 3 Swiss networks, so it's the best network coverage by definition

Re: Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

If you have good reception with Sunrise, the best deal is available again today:
https://www.qoqa.ch

CHF 55 nearly everything umlimited (2 GB roaming) including a second SIM card. I used the deal to cut the cord, i just needed a LTE router, a Zattoo subscription and now i got rid of cablecom and co. An excellent experience for CHF 55.

Sucks that a Sunrise customer cannot keep their existing number.

Nein, extra SIM surf & talk kann nicht in Modems (Wi-Fi Hotspots) verwendet werden.

I use the secondary SIM in a Netgear LTE router, the primary SIM is in my phone.

Re: Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

I confirmed this.

You cannot use the 2nd SIM in a 4G LTE router as your hotspot.

This reduces the effectiveness of the offer dramatically. It's still a very good offer but not barnstorming as it would have been with the 2nd SIM hotspot usage.

Pity.

Re: Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

Seems like the site mentioned in the OP is now an online shop of some sort, so I've split off the recent posts into a new thread.

But it's still not easy to compare everything. We'll shortly be moving house and our requirements will change. Specifically I no longer need the Europe-wide Salt mobile phone subscription, plus we'll need to transfer the current Swisscom connection.

I'm Jesu thinking that maybe print everything together will bring down the price, so if anyone had done the searches, please post here. Here's what we need:

2 Mobile phone subscriptions, both numbers to be transferred from Salt (off-contract). 'Enough' data (let's say at least 5gig per month) plus free or cheap calls to Europe.
Preferably a spare SIM (data-only IS OK) to put in my car Android unit.
Home broadband connection, currently using Swisscom.
Home fixed line/number - at some point will be running as a B&B - with ability to divert to mobile if required.
Swisscom TV2.0. Unless anyone else does a comparable service, with android/ios apps, 30 hours replay, record, sort channel lists, interactive channel/program list.

Wow, thanks for reading, if you got this far, Mr/Mrs/Ms Wooden Indian. Now I've sorted out the requirements I'll do some searching of my own.

Re: Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

I am using a 3 UK sim card, 10 quid a month, Unlimited Text, Voice, 4GB data, uk and EU Roaming including Switzerland. (some uk mobile carriers exclude swiss in roaming)

Local Calls here in swiss cost me zip, if im in france local calls cost zip to whatever country your roaming in, and of course back to uk, included.. extra 1-6GB of data for 7 quid a month or less if needed.

I have a old nokia for my local swiss to call me, it rings once in a month..
or sales people whom i just hang up on..

stupid good deal.. cant beat it yet..

The ONLY downside I can see is that it would see that 3UK likes to roam on SALT here in .CH of course if no salt signal will pick the
next best one.. but so far all roaming defaults to SALT

cheers
