| | New Printer for my Macs
My old HP all-in-one is showing signs of packing it in, so I will be looking for a new one.
I’m fed up with HP’s crappy drivers (“You cannot access Printer Utilities from a device connected by Airport”) so am looking to try something new.
I’d most appreciate any recommendations from Mac users out there. Would like a flatbed scanner/photocopy/printer. WiFi not required as printer would be adjacent to computers. Prices of replacement cartridges also important.

I stopped using HP for our Macs long ago, their software is just not geared towards OSX. We have been using Samsung for the last 10 years and never encountered a single problem with scanning directly towards the Mac's or printing, the software is very easy and works great with OSX.

And do not pin yourself towards one comment here, just read up on the web, Brother, Canon, Dell, Samsung etc.. almost all work good with Macs these days, just have a look on the manufacturers website if a functionality is missing that you do need and which is not supported by the drivers for OSX. If you use your printer only for normal printing you can just grab a normal brand of the shelf in Mediamarkt of Interdiscount and it will work.

Laser or Inkjet all-in-one?
If inkjet, I can recommend my Canon MX925 which I print to over my WLAN network.

I use across platforms (OSX, Windows, iOS and Android) and Brother has been seamless, cartridge costs are not atrocious and there are XL cartridges which lower the per page price. MFC something, color laser printer scanner thingy.
BTW, last time I checked Samsung was selling their printer business to HP. So that crossed out Samsung for me.

Reason: Samsung story.

Look for a bonjour capable printer, get the least hassle with drivers and connections. etc. These days all printers great or small are built more or less from a common hardware structure and simply get a brand sticker.

check for which one you can easily find white label cartridges in Switzerland, as this is the main cost driver. apart from that, if for home use it doesn't really matter which brand or model. printers are a commodity and just go for the cheapest one that has the right specs.

Thanks to all.
HP hardware is fine, I just hate their software. I’m not looking for additional features, printing and flathed scanning are all I need.
I’m going shopping later today ...

I’m going shopping later today ... | | | | | Just got a Cannon Maxify. https://de.canon.ch/printers/inkjet/...maxify_ib4150/
Seems to do a good job
and does lives up to its name
in that it is BIG!
But does seem to be better built then my old crappy HP Business jet. Had the first HP actually replaced under guarantee. And crossed my figures on the replacement while the new one was only under the original guarantee (TIS).
In the end my replaced Business Jet started spitting out blank pages. I think the no name inks clogged the heads and I didn't feel like dishing 80 SFr a head to replace em.
The Cannon has a regular cycle for head cleaning.
However, its still too new and assume time will tell.
But does come with an 3 year guarantee via online registration.

Thanks but we don’t print that much. I use the scanner almost as much as the printer.

Perhaps look at a printer where the colours are separate and not all in one tank, nothing more annoying than having the damn thing quitting just because Cyan is under 10%. And stay away from printers that look like a collection of loose spare parts unless you want to know what it sounds like when two robots shag on a bed of corrugated iron.

We have a Brother 9020CDW laser all-in-one and it works fine for all our Windows and Mac devices. Nice quality prints too.

I recommend an Epson WF 5620, WLAN/USB or LAN, ink jet, cheap tanks(up to 4000 pages) , very fast.

Just bought a Canon TR8550, set up was a breeze and seems to be working well with my Macs.
Got it at the Media Markt in Meyrin/GE. I'm amazed how little their staff know and how little they care about customers. Apparently assembling a chair is more important than helping a customer.
About the only interaction was with the cashier who wanted to sell me an extended warranty, but had no idea what the policy covered. 40f for a printer that cost 150. I politely declined.
