Re: Yallo Home Box

Also very interested ...

Moving to Switzerland in less than a month, wanted to know what is the best option. 4G unlimited internet connection (Sunrise or Yallo) or Fibre/broadband ?

I do not want a 24 month or even a 12 month minimum contract. IS the 4G the best solution ?

I already have a LTE router (d-link 921) ...

Any advises?

Also need a Mobil line (just the SIM card) but I do not think I am going to use it much, as I will use my roaming from Spain to call home ( a lot cheaper than Swiss plans ). Just need to have a Swiss contact, due to work.

Re: Yallo Home Box

Hi, I ordered it this morning. I hope to receive it soon and start to use it right away. I see it as a good option because I already have a Yallo mobile plan and 4G goes FAST at my place. I didn't want to bother with fiber or cable... I'll let you know!
(I picked the 24 months offer... for 39chf it looks fair price to me)

@Nordes

How did you find the service ?
I am thinking to switch from cablecom internet (50 mgb) to Yallo, but I am afraid that I might regret it

Don't - most likely you will...
I had salt unlimited for ~2 years and most of time it was ok, but during peak it wasn't possible to for example watch HD streaming... overall with time it got a lot worse, now I am on 30mb symmetric fiber and it's a lot better (but more expensive).
So as summary if you are light user and don't do much streaming and there is no long commitment in yallo maybe try it... In honesty Sunrise has a better network than salt for sure...

Thank you for your answer.
I'm actually a heavy user
I stream, download, game a lot so I need a reliable connection, and I got greedy when I saw 250 mgb speed..
Anyway, I won't switch, thanks again

Re: Yallo Home Box

My experience with Yallo home:

1. I ordered the internet home plan Yallo GO XL, I preferred to commit 24 months and get the 39chf month offer. Also, I did not want to be bothered with cables/fiber connexions.
The process was completed only asking for a valid swiss ID (B-permit in my case), my address, email,... no payment details required.
It was a thursday morning.

2. Monday morning they did the delivery at my home. I live in Brugg.

3. A few minutes later of receiving the package, I got an email saying the SIM card will be activated after a few minutes.

5. Within the delivery box, there is the router:
https://www.4gltemall.com/blog/tag/huawei-b529-test/
The SIM card was there too, also with a letter detailing how to activate the card online.

6. At the bottom of the router you have the place to introduce the SIM (careful with the sizes) and the router name and password.

7. Turn it on, and connection to the router was straight forward, we connected to the 5G (see link with the router description above).

8. Internet was not activated, so when we opened the internet browser it went straight to the router (classical 192.etc.etc). There actually you can change password of the router itself from the classical admin/admin to whatever you please. Top right, you have a menu to change the language.

9. All set up, but still no connection after 10 minutes. We logged using our data in a mobile phone to go to the online SIM card activation. When writing the phone number and the PUK, an error message appeared saying "this phone number already exists". Weird.

10. We struggled a bit for 2 min, and then suddenly we got internet.

11. So, we were just a little impatience Overall, since receiving the package to having internet it was 25 min waiting.

12. I tested speed, a few times, with different servers around:
ping between 15 and 29ms
dowload between 16 and 35Mbps
upload between 25 and 33 Mbps

13. Accessing the account in Yallo webpage was failing for some reason, I had to call. The guy in the phone was friendly and positive, he didn't get the issue at first, but in the end he was kind and helpful. Now I have access to everything.

14. Still all for free.. By the beginning of the next month I should get an email/letter with the bill, to be paid. I still don't understand how that works in this country when one wants to have bills directly deducted from the bank account.

Final:
Very happy with it

Re: Yallo Home Box

I'm also considering to switch from cablecom to yallo box, but later on I will cancel my internet contract from upc and what about the TV?
I have an old contract, right now I pay 64 chf for internet 100MB and basic TV, and If I have to sign a new contact with them I'll have 50MB and basic TV for 59chf.

I don't see any improvement for me switching to yallo, what do you think?

Awesome update!! That modem seems to be ok, despite lacking a lan switch... but then for many users one lan port will be ok.

If you are with postfinance you can request a e-rechnung (e-bill), this is not a direct debit (this one is called LSV) but the bills will be sent directly to your postfinance UI where you can review them and pay directly from there. Yallo / sunrise support that: https://www.sunrise.ch/en/residentia...ungsarten.html

Re: Yallo Home Box

I checked yesterday my home DSL internet conection, suposed to be 60Mbps/60MBps, with green.ch, but because of the distance to the server, I gorwas max 20MBps and 15Mbps upload according to speed test.

With this conditions, I belive if I switch to Yallo Box XL I should get better speeds? (and cheaper price).
I am switching in September to Yallo on my phone, but as far as I understood the mobile phone ilimited 4G is capped at certain a 100Mbps, anyway I expect Iwould get an average of 30Mbps (that is the average speed in switzerland with 4G according to independent tests).

Any opinions?
As well is it right that if you move within switzerland you cna just plug your box in your new flat?

Re: Yallo Home Box

Hi,

My experience with yallo phone is excellent, although in some crowded places (near main stations) sometimes it goes a bit down. Else, it's fast and reliable.

Home is a different story. In terms of flexibility it's absolutely great. But although when it goes fast, is fast, it's "bumpy" and not very reliable. I experience issues with youtube sometimes, and other days with the connection itself, which seems to get lost. I don't mind much because it's cheap and most of the time goes fairly well. But if I had to be connected at top speed for long time, maybe I would try other options. It's not that one move from one apartment to other every two years (isn't?)...
It could be also that from Brugg, the main servers are a bit away. Overall, 70% happy experience.

Cheers.
