So I’ve logged in to my Apple account through my Apple TV but all I see there is different apps channels that I have to individually download. Also I downloaded Salt TV app on my iPhone, but I don’t have a log in? Is this something I have to set up myself or will salt send me an account that I can use?
A bit frustrated - although for the price we pay, we are happy to save some bucks!). We just wanted to watch live tv with just a click of a button.. didn’t think it would be this complicated. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!!!
You need to download the Salt.TV app onto the Apple TV and log in with the provided data. Then you have all the 150 or so channels.
*In principle*, your username for that application will be jsmith (if your full name is John Smith) and the password is the one provided by Salt when you set up your account originally on fiber.salt.ch.
I don't remember if Salt provided a separate password for the TV app or not - but in any case, you can reset it from the fiber.salt.ch website at https://fiber.salt.ch/myaccount/#/TVParameters.

Good luck.

Then I contacted Salt again for getting my refund of CHF 100 as well as compensation for my hardship.
Why would you expect any compensation? What did you materially lose as a direct result of their actions?

Re: Salt Fiber Box

Have also made the change from Swisscom to Salt.

Everything arrived on time, worked when it was plugged in, did what was advertised.

Biggest problem: due to our set-up, somebody has to get up off the lounge to adjust the volume manually. The old Swisscom TV box would adjust the output volume at the TV box, while the new Apple TV remove adjusts the volume at the TV (which we bypass to have the sound from our lovely speakers, which only have knobs to adjust volume / treble / bass).
We might be able to work out how to fix this ... haven't looked at it yet.

I think that's a fair trade for the amount we save each month!

Re: Salt Fiber Box

I consider myself a sophisticated IT user. I have had UPC Cablecom, Sunrise Fiber, and Init7. I have been a Salt Fiber customer since June 2018. To this day, I cannot believe that I get 10x the speed with free TV for half the price I used to pay.

If you are not interested in salt except nagging and complaining, just sod off from this topic I'd say.

I had an issue with a device that was misbehaving at 5GHZ. Everything would work for a few days then I would need to reset the box. Once I moved the offending device off things have been rock solid.

I know it was the device because it started happening when I added it to the network.

First make sure 5 GHz WiFi is active.

Log in to the box (open http://salt.box/ in a browser from your local network; default credentials are admin/admin, I believe) and check if 5 GHz WiFi is activated.
Click on WLAN in the left-hand menu and make sure the slider next to "SSID Enable" is set to Yes (green). If not, adjust your connection parameters (network name = "SSID" and password = "WPA pre-shared key", select Authentication Method as "WPA2-Personal" and WPA Encryption as "AES"), then click on Save Settings and afterwards on the aforementioned slider for 5 GHz. If you still cannot connect, try rebooting the Salt box.

If it's already green and you suspect some device might be misbehaving, the simplest way is to remove them from the network (go to the device and "forget" that WiFi network) one by one until the offending behavior stops. Then re-add all of them except for the problematic one.

Re: Salt Fiber Box

Hello,

I've got salt fiber last week and everything worked perfectly until yesterday. I've changed a cable for a longer one (from kabelhuus, claimed to work with salt box, same connectors).

After resetting the box, power LED blinked red for a while (firmware update).
Since then internet connection is messed up. I can open certain websites (bbc, digitec), while others never load (e.g. swissinfo).

Apple tv still works (even 4k channels) and I can access my NAS from outside and download files from it. It looks like physical connection is fine, but something got messed up with the box settings. I've already tried factory reset. Does anyone else have such issues? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Salt Fiber Box

The same happened to my box after I had a power cut. The speed was pretty good but web pages would take ages to load.

It turned out optical the transmit power was low. By the next day it had resynchronised and it was ok again

Have you tried with the old cable? If the fibre cable, it's possible you've bent it too much

Yes, I tried both several times. Same problem.
Since I can download files from NAS (from outside the local network at decent speed) and watch 4k channels at apple tv, I think physical connection is fine.

Interesting. What are normal ranges for RX & TX transmit power?

Interesting. What are normal ranges for RX & TX transmit power?
TX must vary between 4 dBm and 9 dBM

RX must be above -29 dBm

Saying that my transmit is about 2 dBm and is ok.
After the power cut it was about 1.4 dBm

TX is around 5dBm and Rx around -14dBm (it's similar for both cables)
